Square Enix has released some new official 4K screenshots from the PC version of Final Fantasy XV. These screenshots will give you an idea of what you can expect from this upcoming title running in 4K (with all its bells and whistles enabled).
Final Fantasy XV will support native 4K and 8K resolutions with HDR10 and DOLBY ATMOS along with ongoing mod support and specific NVIDIA features. According to the development team, the PC version will have higher quality assets that were created specifically for it, and was built from the ground up.
On February 26th, Square Enix will release a demo for Final Fantasy XV PC, featuring the first Chapter and allowing players to fully explore the tutorial and opening quests of the game.
Enjoy!

HDR only on Win10 w/ CU.
What’s CU?
Creators Update, for Windows 10 OS.
I look forward to the demo
Nice, I am all pre ordered and ready to go. Just need to download the giant 155 gb 4K version of the game 🙂 , I wish I had Fibre 🙁 my 24mbs is going to take forever.
Seriously, this game is HUGE in download size. Kind of insane, 100+ GB, excluding any upcoming updates/patches as well.
Really sucks if someone is on a monthly bandwidth cap, or a slow broadband/internet connection.
Fore sure, I agree. At the same time as a game dev I understand there is not much you can do about it, it is what it is. If the game has thousands of 4K textures, high quality audio, videos, and other assets that data is finite, compression and other means can only go so far to cut down that size req.
As crazy as it may sound the world really needs to switch to Fibre and remove bandwidth caps to catch up with the rest of technology and where things are at / heading. Gamers and Movie/TV show people will continue to request high quality games, TV shows and Movies which all requires more bandwidth and a faster connections. In short you can not stop the increase in size for modern media it is only going to grow as time goes on.
Personally I don’t care about waiting to down load a game over a few days but the damn bandwidth caps need to be removed, that is just crazy for these crazy large downloads(thank god I don’t have a cap with my plan). LOL two 155 gb games and most peoples caps would be done for the month. Another beef our pure 250 gb SSD are going to look like thumb drives soon 🙁 , 1 TB SSD need to come down in price asap.
I’d really love to know on what 4k textures they’ve made for the game vs those they simply left out and left at the standard res.
Same, I like to know as well. It be really cool if they made actual real 4K textures just for the PC or more likely that the originals where really made at 4K.
Try downloading at 900 kb/s, like me.. Wish I had 24 mbps
Wow that is brutal(and I though I had it bad) I used to have that speed with Shaw where I live and it really sucked. I switched to Telus and at least I always get 24 mbps now and don’t share my internet.
I feel your pain I was there too 🙁 , hopefully you can get upgraded very soon.
I have AT&T and I live in the south. No upgrades for me, mate.
Eh, that sucks 🙁 , oh well at least we can download/pause and continue the next day or download through the night over a few days time. Well lets hope FFXV will be wroth it.
~810 kb/sec here. I feel your pain. Im stuck with it till fiber gets rolled out where i live. That could be years from now.
I download at 1.1MB/s (10Mb/s ADSL) and this year Fibre is being installed all around where I live (infrastructure, cables below ground as we speak), so it is a matter of time and probably before this summer I’ll be getting Fibre after all these 13 years living here.
Hopefully I won’t get the lowest package in my area which is 50Mb/s but in any case it will be way better than what I have now. I wish I could get 300Mb/s symmetric (300 up and 300 down). A couple of friends have that and they download 60GB files/games in half an hour…for me it takes 20 hours (3GB per hour, a true pain in the as*).
“Funny thing” they pay a lot less than me…
I’m not really seeing 4k style assets all around. Take for example, the rocks in the distance on the third shot, as well as Ardyn’s coat in the 4th shot. His right arm’s leather looks rather low res and hardly 4k.
The shots are likely taken in 4k res, but they certainly aren’t using 2-4k assets all around.
Did anyone say that the assets were at 4K? AFAIK the article just said they were 4K screenshots.
Every single one of those links mentions “higher quality assets”.
Higher quality assets doesn’t necessarily mean 4K assets.
And to be honest, 4k assets is a huge waste of VRAM, especially for a 3rd person game.
Higher than the default 1080p, which is basically what a lot of textures these days are designed at.
I find 4k res to be a colossal waste of money and effort, for lower res textures.
