New EXODUS Screenshots Tease a Mass Effect-Style Sci-Fi Adventure from Ex-BioWare Devs

Archetype Entertainment has released some new screenshots from its upcoming Mass Effect-like sci-fi action adventure game, EXODUS. This is a game most Mass Effect fans should keep an eye on. So, if you are one of them, you should check out these new screenshots.

EXODUS is the debut game from RPG creator James Ohlen’s new studio. According to the devs, this will be a next-generation, story-driven RPG that marries cinematic storytelling with deep emotional impact, featuring broad player agency and modern AAA gameplay. The story is fueled by the consequences of player choices due to the impact of Time Dilation.

In EXODUS, humanity has escaped a dying Earth and found a new home in a dangerous galaxy. You play as The Traveler, humanity’s last hope. Your mission is to steal alien weapons and technology from the Celestials, the most powerful beings in the universe and humanity’s biggest enemy. But there’s a catch – Time Dilation.

When Travelers go on their journey in EXODUS, they age much slower because of Time Dilation. Meanwhile, the people they leave behind—like friends, family, and companions—age much faster. When Travelers return home, they might find that years or even decades have passed. The friends they left behind could have lived full lives, grown old, or even passed away while they were gone.

Archetype Entertainment has also shared the following Q&A dev video. In this video, Studio Co-Founder and General Manager Chad Robertson and Game Director Chris King discuss the role of stealth in the game, the feel and flow of combat, enemy variation, side quests, and more.

There is currently no ETA on when EXODUS will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.

Enjoy!

  1. "There is currently no ETA on when EXODUS will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted."

yeah, i am sick and tired of these interviews, i wish they showed us some demonstration gameplay.

  2. I don't like anything with time in ii, ie time travel. But I need that space RPG fix, so I'll have to give this one a try. Just wish it wasn't a time centric.

      1. Time traveling, slowing down time or speeding up time it's just not grounded in some form of reality. I find that time traveling, is often use as a way to escape bad writing. "We screwed up, so let's go back in time and totally disregard this timeline". But if we were too look at the whole time thing as real as reality grounded, then everyone you ever loved and know it's now gone. Now you're in a different time period, how are you suppose to adjust to even that.

I hope I'm making some sense to you. Or I understand that to someone else I might just be overthinking this stuff. But it's my pet peeve on anything that's regarding time. If you love time genres l, Have you ever thought about it in the ways I've just describe?

        1. I 100% understand that it’s often used for bad writing but at the same time, it is also used to have a different take or scenario on something well established.

The part that starts to not make sense is the focus on it being grounded in reality. Most games that include time stuff are fantasy. Not to mention people play video games as entertainment or escapism from reality.

And besides the obvious being that time travel has yet to be a thing in reality.

In the end, my question has been answered. I just found time travel, of all things, to be an odd hangup. We got games with literal gods, 1000+ year old kids, mythical creatures, etc etc.

    1. Glad to see two comments who complain about the same thing: elements which are not grounded in reality.
I just wish more games would try to be more believable, instead of high fantasy or whatever it's called.

  3. Since they are not affiliated with EA anymore I may just give it a shot.

Archetype Entertainment is an American video game development studio established as a division of game publisher Wizards of the Coast, itself a subsidiary of Hasbro.

  4. Is this that SciFi game with colored lights coming out of the player character's hand to interact with things? I'm getting tired of magical colored lights from the hand as a game mechanic.

    1. Same. Tired of "pretty magic" in general.
I wish games would go back to something realistic, or at least believable.

      1. I don't mind a little fantasy in video games. The magic coming out of your hand in Skyrim was fine, but then again that was a fantasy game anyway. In a SciFi game? That's just ridiculous.
