Doom fans, here is something to look forward to. Enviroment Artist John Eyre and one of his friends are currently working on recreating the first level of Doom 2 in Unreal Engine 4. According to John, this recreation will feature everything; from enemies to all secret areas.
While this project is still in early stage, John released the first two images from his project that can be viewed below.
John aims to keep all the geo as flat and single planed as possible (so that it resembles the original version of the map).
Even in its early stage, this project looks really cool.
John is currently looking for a character artist/animated in order to help them with the project.
Enjoy the following screenshots and we’ll be sure to keep you posted on its progress!

John is the founder and Editor in Chief at DSOGaming. He is a PC gaming fan and highly supports the modding and indie communities. Before creating DSOGaming, John worked on numerous gaming websites. While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. John has also written a higher degree thesis on the “The Evolution of PC graphics cards.”

Screenshot 1, he didn’t texture the floor, the lighting is off and the walls look like they are floating.
Calling this early is an understatement.
No hard feelings about it.
It’s like the first teasers and you can take them for what they are.
It already looks true to Doom 2 with barely some texturing and lighting, really promising!
It’s in early stages to judge. We’ll see how it looks once it’s done.
LITERALLY 2 SCREENSHOTS

No bollocks, 10 years would be way too much for that. Especially in the video game industry, where graphics evolve quickly.
Sweeeeeeeeet.!.!
