Half-Life 2’s Apartment 17 Recreated In Unreal Engine 4

3D artist Liam Tart has been experimenting with Unreal Engine 4 and decided to recreate Half-Life 2’s Apartment 17 in Epic’s engine. Liam Tart had previously worked on Alien: Isolation, and this recreation is most probably a way to show his artistic abilities (for portfolio purposes).

As you may have expected, Tart used custom high-resolution textures that are similar to those used in Half-Life 2. And thanks to Unreal Engine 4, this scene has transformed into an amazing environment.

Now if only there was a proper HL2 remaster that could take advantage of modern-day engines or a game in the HL universe with the number “3” in it.

Enjoy and kudos to Alt-Tab for spotting it!

  1. Incredible stuff. HL3 needs to look as good, or better than these screens. These artists also really need to make demos of these for us to explore.
