Forza Horizon 3 4K Screenshots

Forza Horizon 3 has just been released on the PC, and below you can find some 4K screenshots from it. Forza Horizon 3 is the first game that takes advantage of Xbox Play Anywhere, and unfortunately it is not as optimized as Forza Motorsport 6: APEX.

We’ll have more to say about Forza Horizon 3’s PC performance in our upcoming PC Performance Analysis article, so stay tuned for more.

Until then, enjoy these 4K screenshots (that were captured on Ultra settings).

  1. In some of those screenshots the world looks very boring and flat. I can’t quite tell what is wrong but it looks very odd. Maybe it’s the lighting. The first screenshot is a great example.

  2. Remember folks… Forza Motorsports 6 runs at 1080p/60fps on the X1 and FH3 runs at 1080p/30fps. So you shouldn’t be expecting the same performance on your system that you had playing FM6 APEX (which is essentially FM6). FH3 is open world and has a dynamic day/night cycle with dynamic weather. None of which Forza Motorsport 6 has. I can run this game Maxed (with 4xMSAA) at 4K resolution with frame rates going from 70-110 on my system (i7 4790k @ 4.8GHz, 16GB DDR3 @ 2400MHz and Pascal Titan X). But I vsync it so it caps at 60fps. The main problem is the borderless windowed B.S. of UWP… That causes the game to dip to 55-58fps when vsynced every now an then (even though with vsync off it never goes below 72-75fps!). The same thing happens with other games running in Borderless on my system… Hopefully Playground Games can figure out something to alleviate this. But I’m pretty damn sure it’s UWP insisting on Borderless Fullscreen instead of “exclusive” fullscreen. Other issues are that while my Fanatec CSWv2 works, there is no FFB and using the wheel makes my FPS dip into a sustained 45-50FPS range. The game needs a patch but honestly it is pretty amazing all things considered. Now that the game has officially launched (I purchased the Ultimate Edition, so I have been playing since Friday the 23rd…) PLayground Games will start to address the various issues that are happening on PC. For instance on my XBOX ONE my Fanatec CSWv2 works flawlessly (it’s really amazing with that wheel!!!). But like I said FH is more visually demanding then FM so don’t expect identical performance on both titles. I have no idea why when the demo was being discussed they made the statement that PC players should gauge their experience with APEX to conclude there performance with FH3… It didn’t make sense to me… And it still doesn’t. I’m curious who exactly gave that statement…. Anyway, the game is awesome and looks AMAZING in 4K@60FPS!!! AMAZING!

Maybe next year Forza Motorsport 7 on PC nad Xbox Scorpio will have more dynamic lighting? Xbox Scorpio will have 4x more power than Xbox One.

      1. Sorry, I didn’t realize I was being graded. I re-read it and don’t see the issue. Can you please explain? You do understand how brackets work, right?

  3. I couldn’t pass on FH3.

    My system :

    5930k@4.3ghz
    Evga Titan X Hybrid @1375hz
    32gb DDR4-3000@CAS15/T1
    950 pro 512gb
    Ocz RD400a
    Asus RoG Swift (1440p)

Performance wise, the game runs well but in intensive areas, the game would stutter a little bit. It’s hardly noticeable you really have to pay attention. I’m’ running the game maxed out with MSAA 2X and it is beautiful and fun, quite a fun game. Those with weaker systems should expect more stutters.

      1. Did you know the conception of beauty can be very subjective?

And no offence but after you forked out $/€ 100 for that piece of software attempts to justify your purchase/defend the game are to be expected in your comments.

    1. It’s a cool tech, but not that special. In terms of image, it’s not something that would make me invest in a new tv.

    1. What’s wrong about cruising around on your boat/hovercraft?
A lot of people apparently enjoy it.
And you can even make your boat/hovercraft look like a super-car.
      Unstoppable progress.

  4. The Reviews on the Windows Store for all versions (Basic, Ultimate and what ever the top one is) are awful between 1 and 3 stars. A lot of people are complaining of install issues and a few with same setup as me (i7 4790k & GTX 1080) claiming to have performance issues. I want this game, but not right now. £50 is way too much and too many having issues at this time.

  5. forza 6 apex IS NOT optimized full of micro stuttering if you thought that arkham knight stuttering are annoying this is WORST its a RACING game and it stutter madly the difficulty im having is not with the tracks or the A.I but the damn stuttering it can mess you up when you drive up to 150mph FFS
turn 10 doesn’t deserve any credits the forums are full of people complaining about the stuttering of forza 6 apex including people with 6700k 32gb of ram and a frikkin 1080!!!
so yea im not surprised the stutters that are still not fixed to this day even after forza 6 exited beta(where it should have stayed at least they had an excuse)

end of angry pc gamer rant about struggling with POS optimization
