Some parts of the game look really reallyy good, and some other parts look like a PS2 game. Almost shockingly bad, even with mods btw!
I got around 150 mods myself and while it does make the game look so much better, it can’t remove the ugly spots completely.

That’s if Beth finally abandon Gamebryo, I’m totally expecting the next big ES game to maybe be the last title to use it which means another decade before we even see a new ES game not using an ancient engine.
Cant they use the Doom engine from Id? Or is that one not good enough for an RPG game :O It sure looks sweet.
They could but I’d like to wait and see just how well and extensive the id tech 6 performs on PC before making a final judgement, I did see a “virtual textures” option within the advanced options panel and that made me think back to id tech 6 with its horrid mega texturing which also happened to include options for virtual textures, the last thing I want from a new engine is more and more textures blurring out as you move away from them or popping in and out like chunks.
I’d rather a brand new engine that has a new set of possibilities than an old engine that’s still ancient and isn’t standing head above anything else.
They’ve had years, Kojima’s engine managed what they still haven’t in a much shorter time frame, if anything going with his engine would greatly benefit the future Fallout/ES series than using an ancient engine that needs some mystical form of understanding and “time”.
My unmodded game looks a lot better (with a SFX preset though).
You can’t believe that! First it doesn’t look better at all with a SFX preset and second this whole thing with sweetFX is really a joke. You play with the colors and think that it made the game better? Good for you if you are happy with that but what happened with the awful textures? Grass? Water?

I don’t play in console version but vanilla textures looks great in 4K PC, no complaints about the lighting either –way more balanced than this mod.
I did mod my Fallout, but mainly bugfix and gameplay mods. Other than that I’m fine with the way it is.
