Unreal Tournament 2004 RTX Remix Path Tracing Beta Mod Released

Unreal Tournament fans, here is something special for you today. Modder ‘Rune_Storm’ has released a beta/demo version of his RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod for Unreal Tournament 2004.

As with all RTX Remix Mods, this one will add full ray tracing/path tracing effects to UT2004. However, since it’s in a beta state, it has a number of visual issues. Additionally, not all of the game’s maps currently work in RT. So, like with most RTX Remix Mods, you should temper your expectations. This demo does not represent the quality of the final version. So yeah, I expect this game – and all the others we’ve shared these past couple of months – to look better with RTX Remix.

You can download this RTX Remix Mod from this link. At the end of the article, you can also find some screenshots, shared by NVIDIA’s Jacob Freeman. Do note that NVIDIA is NOT behind this RTX Remix project.

As you will see, the game looks cool with these Path Tracing effects. And again, this is a really early version of the mod. It still needs a lot of work, no doubt about that. So, take these screenshots as “proof-of-concept” images and nothing more. And can somebody start working on an RTX Remix Mod for the first Unreal game?

Anyway, last month, we shared several RTX Remix Mods that are in the works. As such, you can take a look at screenshots and videos for Tomb Raider 2Grand Theft Auto: Vice CityManhunt, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, and Garfield Kart RTX Remix. Yesterday, we also shared a video from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas RTX Remix.

Speaking of Path Tracing Mods for older titles, you might also want to check out the following ones. Modders have released early demos for their Path Tracing Mods for Tomb RaiderMax Payne and Call of Duty 4. Do note that the COD4 Mod is a “proof of concept” demo, and it does not look that great. On the other hand, the RTX Remix Mod for Max Payne looks amazing (at least in my opinion). Let’s also not forget the RTX Remix for COD: WoW. And then there is this amazing RTX Remix Mod for Need for Speed: Underground 2. Finally, you can download Path Tracing Mods for Doom 2QuakeHalf-Life and Serious Sam.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. OMG UT 2K4!!! Love it, thanks for the heads up!!!

PS: Can these RTX remixes tone down the f*cking ambient fog??? Can’t they be a bit less clowns??? Is this 2024 overused effect now, like bloom, brown and grey filters, chromatic aberration and so on in their time?

  2. Besides UT 4 aka “forever pre-alpha-thank you Fortshiet-fugg you Epic Games execs for NOT at least hiring 10 Indian code monkeys to finish the game in 2017″ – which can be set up and played here ut4ever(.)org/index -, I play UT 2k4 sometimes.
Will try it out, however already skeptical if I want to play that game, and arena fps, with 100 fps only, Lol

    1. I play UT4 as well via ut4ever…so sad it got canned. Though, so many maps ported, or added by the small community. I synced with some of the Hubs and now have hundreds of maps to play with!

      1. That’s the biggest middlefinger from epic games. All the content created by the people, they ignored and not honored.
Tens thousands of hours spent creating, coding etc.
They could hire 2 India code monkeys to put all the modifications into the game, even if not finished.

With all the billions of Fortshiet money, they could hire anyone and let the game be finished.

  3. Looks like total Sh*t. But hey we all knows anything shiny and bright – john getting right on, even how worthless it looks. Oh my ..LOL!

  4. I just could not leave your web site before suggesting that I really enjoyed the standard information a person supply to your visitors Is gonna be again steadily in order to check up on new posts

  5. I remember being so disappointed with UT2003 and 2004.
I felt like these games had no soul, no visual identity, and even the slower gameplay was annoying.
The first UT was always the best and the only necessary one.
And just look at how active the community is on moddb.
UT2003 and 2004 are completely dead, on the other hand.
This RTX mod won’t change anything.
