The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Update

The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Mod Fixes the Ray Tracing Bleach Issues

Modder ‘MetVarner99’ has released a must-have mod for those that playing The Witcher 3: Next-Gen with Ray Tracing. This mod solves the poor ray tracing bouncing optimization when moving inside closed places.

For those unaware, in the vanilla version, when you enter a dark environment (especially caves), you have some weird “web look-alike” artifacts around Geralt and the ambient surfaces. Additionally, there were some weird blue artifacts in the reflections on metals and armor. These were the results of the limited ray tracing bounces that the game has. And with this mod, you’ll be able to minimize these artifacts.

Now, as you may have guessed, this mod comes with a significant framerate hit. According to the modder, you should expect a 7-10% (without frame gen) when using this mod. So, make sure to use it only if you own a high-end GPU.

You can download the mod from this link. You can also find below a comparison screenshot. The vanilla version is on the left, whereas the modded version is on the right. Look how glowy Geralt was in the vanilla version.

The good news here is that this mod is now compatible with the RTX Mirrors Mod we shared last month. However, I don’t know whether it also works with this mod that aimed to improve fire effects via Ray Tracing Global Illumination.

Speaking of The Witcher 3 Next-Gen, you may also want to take a look at these other mods for it. For instance, you can download a really cool first-person mod. Furthermore, the Characters Reworked Project improves the quality of over 100 characters. Yesterday, we shared a must-have gameplay overhaul mod. Let’s also not forget this mod that lets you kill most in-game NPCs. In December 2023, we shared this mod that restores content that was cut from all previous The Witcher games. Then we have the Witcher 3 Next-Gen Combat Redux Mod. Earlier this month, we shared a mod that attempted to remove the fake “hero” light from the game’s cut-scenes. Finally, you can get 8K Texture Packs for CiriTriss MerigoldGeralt and Yennefer.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. I’ll be waiting for the 5090 to play this I think. All of these mods look useful but they add up. At 4k, even frame gen won’t guarantee you a smooth experience.

    1. Plus Frame Generation makes you crash a lot, especially in the equipment menu. Don’t know exactly why but you will freeze and two threads will max out to 100% and a few seconds later you CTD. Turn off frame generation and it never crashes

  2. What I’m waiting for is either a mod or better yet a patch to fix the candle bug when you have RT and Hair Works enabled. If you are in a room and have a candle to your left then the left side of your hair and beard turns black. It’s like instead of reflecting the candlelight your hair absorbs it

  3. My brother suggested I might like this blog He was totally right This post actually made my day You can not imagine simply how much time I had spent for this info Thanks
