Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon Patch v1.06a Adds Shader Preloading, Upgrades Game to Unity 6000.0.51f

Questline has released Patch v1.06a for Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon which finally implements shader preloading. As such, the game should now have fewer hitches and stutters while playing it. This was one of my biggest issues with the game. So, it’s good to see the devs finally addressing it.

Update v1.06a also updates the game to Unity 6000.0.51f. According to the devs, this should fix one of the long-standing crashes on all platforms. It also fixes visual artifacts along the seam in the water pool portal. Plus, it resolves the variable speed of clouds in the rain.

Patch v1.06a also fixes a few other important problems. First, it stops save files from being duplicated at the start of the game if they were edited and had special characters in their names. Second, it fixes a bug where the damage direction indicator would sometimes stay on the screen. Lastly, it fixes an issue where old save files weren’t deleted when a new one was saved over them.

And that’s not all. This latest update comes with some gameplay fixes and tweaks. For example, it fixes heal value for Nature’s Caress, Mother’s Embrace, and Divine Grace spells to be in line with their tooltips. It will buff Frostfang Dagger, and it will increase item level damage 0>2 for Leech Bite. It will rebalance The Horned Wardens Vestment’s main effect 10>20% and added item level gain, and it will make Sunfish and Sneep easier to catch.

Most requested:

  • Added many new whispers to Arthur for both Cuanacht and Forlorn Swords,

  • Added Shader preloading. This will decrease or alleviate completely one reason for stutters on the first use of visual effects by the game on a per-machine basis,

Gameplay:

  • Fixed heal value for Nature’s Caress, Mother’s Embrace, and Divine Grace spells to be in line with their tooltips,

  • Fixed Ulfr Stormforged Cape effect,

  • Fixed armor proficiency gain after save and load,

Quests:

  • Tiernan’s furniture shop will now become available only after repairing the village jetty,

  • Sine will now correctly reward the player with cash for completing her tasks,

  • Fixed a quest progression issue in Over My Dead Bodies. If you’re stuck on the “I have to uncover what he’s been experimenting on” objective, re-reading Caelum’s journal should resolve it,

  • Implemented rewards for completing The First Men quest,

  • Implemented rewards for the Aberrant Minds quest,

  • The Ascension quest now grants the correct amount of experience points,

  • Rebalanced the experience awarded for The Forked Path quest,

Technical:

  • Updated to Unity 6000.0.51f, which has fixed one of the long-standing crashes on all platforms,

  • Fixed an issue where the directional damage indicator sometimes wouldn’t disappear,

  • Fixed UI navigation blockages in Handcrafting when using a gamepad,

  • Fixed a case where saves were duplicated on game start if they were manually edited/duplicated in certain languages to have certain special characters in their names,

  • Fixed overwriting of saves, not removing the old save file,

Graphics:

  • Fixed gold horse armor,

  • Divine Grace & Mother’s Embrace – fixed timing and symbol orientation to match new animations,

  • Ephemerate Crystal & Piercing Ember – added rotation to the crystal projectile,

  • Fire Rune – adjusted VFX timing and improved fade-out,

  • Resolve visual artefacts along the seam in the water pool portal,

  • Fixed the variable speed of clouds in the rain,

  • Skeleton archmage scythe material visibility,

  • Crushing Blow and similar VFX optimization,

Audio:

  • Neante VO fix,

  • Added missing VO for Kestrel,

  • Added missing barks for Asgall,

Misc:

  • Fixed NPC markers for Vesna and some Children of Morrigan,

  • Weightbound spell & Crippling Bolt spell effects now can be applied simultaneously,

  • Changed Claire’s Pen wand description (item works the same way, but it is now clearer on what it does),

  • Chatterblade now taunts the hero less often,

  • Clarified the end-game continuation popup: you can continue playing, but the final sequence cannot be replayed,

  • Fixed mismatched eyebrow icons in the Character Creator
