STALKER 2 Bloodsucker

In just one day, STALKER 2 received its second title update

Yesterday, GSC GameWorld released the first major update for STALKER 2. And after one day, the devs released its second update. Patch 1.0.2 is 8GB in size on PC, and it will address some quest blockers/issues.

For those wondering, no. This isn’t the patch that will fix A-Life 2.0. Instead, this second update focuses on addressing issues that players encountered during some quests.

Since these quests contain spoilers, I won’t be sharing them. You can find the full patch notes here. As I said, though, they have story spoilers. So, avoid them if you don’t want anything to be spoiled for you.

What I can share is one generic fix. This fix is for an issue when quest enemies could spawn in unreachable areas for a player during the “Down Below” mission, blocking further progression. Plus, the update fixes a few more EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION errors. As such, the game should be more stable now on your PC.

Also note that Patch 1.0.2 does not pack any performance or optimization improvements. So, don’t expect the game to run better than before. Moreover, STALKER 2 is still using UE 5.1.1. In other words, no. The devs have not upgraded it to a newer version of UE5.

All the mods that we’ve shared so far should be compatible with this new version. After all, Update 1.0.1 did not break compatibility with any of them. And, since this is a smaller update, it won’t bring any conflicts or issues.

This means that you can use the Draw Distance Mod with it. I’ve been monitoring my performance and I strongly suggest avoiding it if you don’t have a high-end GPU. This mod comes with a 10-20FPS performance hit.

Then we have this mod that attempts to restore most of the online A-Life functionality. Finally, you can download a mod that will remove the inventory carry/weight limit.

Like always, Steam will download this update the next time you launch its client. Be also sure to check out our PC Performance Analysis for STALKER 2.

Stay tuned for more!

  1. Haha you're welcome to come to Donald Peluso's for a cut and walk out looking like a million bucks for the girls at least a few more times before Andrew came to his senses and I was just thinking of you too love you.

  2. I think they can't just update the engine version. This game is probably using custom code for AI and other things so that type of upgrade is not easy to do.

    1. It's the obvious one except for younger or casual dudes who still haven't gotten the hang of it, so, good for you.

    1. I'll just say collapsing the comments is the best thing this site has ever done. I only made the mistake today of uncollapsing for information about the update to see the usual shenanigans..

  3. Wait until the 50 series then purchase, there's a plethora of issues they need to address before they hopefully update the engine to 5.5 and above.

      1. If I wanted to wait, I'd wait until I see a new architecture with either significantly lower power consumption or something AI related.

    1. And wtf do the 50 series have to do with game bugs or older/newer UE versions??? 🤦🏻‍♂️ Also, UE version upgrades have happened in only a handful of very rare cases besides their own Fortnite, so i wouldn't expect it at all. This Fuhrer is clueless as f*ck about videogames.

  4. i will buy the game when they update to Unreal engine 5.3 at least , those pop-in issues are awful , this is a joke , 14 years of development and they launch the game with a fcking old ue 5.1 , with no support to lumen on vegetation, so those awful pop-in issues

update to UE 5.4 and i will buy the game

  5. that's why we crack it and we don't complain about free garbage, even tho deep down we still do lol

They'll optimize it eventually, but by then only nostalgics will still be playing it.

      1. And yet i was old enough when i played the first one. I beg to differ child.

When i said garbage you misunderstood. The game is not garbage in and of itself, but based on the comment i was replying to referring to optimization and UE 5.1 instead of 5.5. Devs sloppy work.

And it's an eagle logo u dorky a*s mf lol
