And yet they still haven’t fixed the god awful stuttering I am getting on pc, I have tried every fix I can find with no luck.
I know it’s quite the jump to make for Windows users, but Elden Ring works smoothly even on my AMD Radeon R9 380 on Linux (with the exclusive RADV Vulkan driver also used by Valve on the Steam Deck).
Hopefully once SteamOS 3.0 is publicly released, more Windows users will give Linux a try…
Who would downvote this? Smooth brains…
Anyways you can use the Vulkan wrapper on Windows too, it’s just not in a nice package made by valve.
Most people no longer have issues except ps5 users. Even the recently added VRR doesn’t help as much as it should.
I’ve used Linux for many years at work and I would never daily drive it. I know the user experience is… Crazy levels better than even a few years ago but it’s still not an OS for most people and likely never will be.
It’s just too… I dunno, I can’t really put it into words but unless you (not YOU) have a good understanding how software and hardware work together and are more of an advanced user with lots of patience I’d stay away.
Yeah Elden Ring was fixed on Linux 1st but… Generally speaking games just run better on Windows and more games run, on top of that most games on Windows don’t require any fiddling with settings to get running and basically every peripheral ever just works on Windows simply by plugging it in.
It would be nice if Linux was genuinely an at home alternative to Windows and there are absolutely people who prefer it but despite 20 years of work trying to make it more user friendly… It’s still not. Not really.
Like I said I wish it was. Some competition certainly wouldn’t hurt in the home OS space. In fact it would just make both OS’s better.
300 hours in the game and 0 stuttering. I heard nobody that has had it. Maybe fix your sh*t
Same here, playing at 4k120 with dips to about 100 but VRR takes care of that, at least since the week 2 patch.
There TONS of people with stutter issues and hardware has nothing to do with it… Unless it’s like a low end cpu, small amount of ram and a low end gpu.
So you don’t know what you’re talking about and just because a game runs fine for you and poorly for someone else it doesn’t mean they have anything wrong with their system.
First go into your GPU CP and disable shader cache, then delete the folder (Google location based on amd or nVidia) and reboot.
After rebooting enable the shader cache and set it to 10 gigs or higher. Also make sure game mode is enabled in Windows and disable any overlays. So if you have GeForce experience open it’s settings and shut it off. Also disable the steam overlay.
If you still have performance issues then post back with your full specs and how many drives you have. Ideally you should have an m.2 just for Windows itself, an m.2 just for games and an HDD for the Windows swap file, and set all your default folders to the HDD (Documents, downloads, onedrive, videos etc) and if you have resizable bar support make sure it’s enabled.
Also make sure you have the latest firmware.
1080p 60fps vrr on a lg oled with a 1080ti. 0 stuttering.
