Digital Extremes has released the pre-alpha version of its new free-to-play game, Soulframe: Preludes. This means that during TennoCon 2025, everyone can try out this early version of the action MMORPG and see what it’s like. So, if you’re interested, you should download it now.
Soulframe: Preludes is an early test version of Soulframe, which has been in development for some time. The devs are using player feedback to help shape the game during this testing phase. There’s no release date yet for when the full version will come out. However, the team is adding new content to it on a regular basis, making the world and gameplay better over time.
Combat in Soulframe is all about swords and magic instead of fast guns. It’s slower than games like Warframe, and it focuses on good timing. You’ll need to dodge, block, and hit at just the right moment. Players can also make deals with spirits to unlock magic powers. You can change your weapons and armor, and choose different factions to play in your own way. There are even big animals like giant wolves you can ride while exploring the world.
The game is set in a beautiful world called Alca. You play as an Envoy, someone who brings balance between nature and machines. The story and world are inspired by movies like Princess Mononoke and The NeverEnding Story. The game has a big open world you can explore, with some parts made by hand and others randomly created. Unlike many dark and scary fantasy games, this one feels brighter and more hopeful. It’s all about fixing the world and discovering new places.
You can go ahead and download the game from its official website. To play it, you’ll need to create a game account. And that’s it. Do note that you’ll have to create an account by July 20 at 11:59PM ET to secure an Envoy name and explore all the content and adventures Soulframe Preludes currently has to offer. Players can continue to access Soulframe Preludes until the game’s full public launch. Once the open sign-up window has closed, players may still sign up, but will wait in the sign-up queue until additional access is available.

i tried playing warframe many times i have over 30 hours on it, its so grindy, have they changed the games so you can play the main missions? Last time i played it it had no open world or space battles.
Warframe being an always-online live-service game that has been receiving DLCs for literally 12 years now since 2013 is the very reason why I never played it despite having a really cool concept and ideas.
I just wish if Warframe was a single-player-only game with a short and sweet replayable campaign rather than the GAAS trash it actually is. This is exactly why I prefer Dark Sector over it (which some of its beta ideas were incorporated into Warframe)

The good: Graphics are good looking and well optimized, nice exploration,
The mid: combat is so-so, early game enemies are pushovers that doesn't amount to anything. Just spam mouse buttom to win, you can parry some attacks if you feel like it, but i guess it becomes better at higher levels?
The bad: What the hell is wrong with your customizable mom? She have the body of a troll or ogre (you can only customize her skin, hair and eyes, and also appears pregnant even when she already have a baby of 1 month top. DE also tries to be smartas$es with the "body type" crap by saying "choose your frame".

Id LOVE to play the "Frames" but I have a principal that I don't touch FtP scams, Premium only. I have SUPER fond memories of the first "next-gen" game Darksector. That trailer latter became Warframes art style. Whenever I see anything Frame related I fill a pull to try, BUT they are designed to eat your time OR money.
Agree but with few rare exceptions, PoE (1&2) is pretty darn good and their MT's are striking a good balance. Most ftp is free to pay games that are blattant cash grabs so rarely even bother to test them, got a huge backlog and to little time already
Yeah no. This game is progressing like watching paint dry. Why would you release a partial alpha? There are maybe 20 hours of content. And that content involves doing the same 3 things repeatedly. This is no where near ready for this. Come back maybe 2027.
the storyline is just a bunch of people crying about their lives also. People are depressed enough. We don't need video games making it worse.
