Modder ‘ZeratulYT’ has released a new 3D character swapper mod for Resident Evil 2 Remake. As the title suggests, this mod allows you to play as Cloud Strife from Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7. As with most similar mods, this simply replaces the main character and nothing more.
It’s a cool mod, though there is something really wrong with Cloud’s hair when he is wet. Seriously, his hair in rainy scenes looks like gel or something. Or like shiny jewels. The modder needs to address this in a future version as it breaks overall immersion.
Other than that, the 3D model appears to be using low-resolution textures. I don’t know whether this is something that can also be resolved. Unfortunately the modder has not released any screenshots and the YouTube trailer is heavily compressed. Still, it would be awesome if ZeratulYT could use higher quality textures.
But anyway, and despite its issues, I’m pretty sure that some Final Fantasy fans will find this mod cool. As a bonus, I’ve also included below another mod from ShivaPSOBB that allows you to play as RAmar from Phantasy Star Online.
In order to install both of these mods, you’ll need FluffyQuack’s Manager. You can download the Final Fantasy 7 Cloud mod from here, and the Phantasy Star Online mod from here. You should also start a new game once you’ve installed these mods, otherwise there might be some compatibility issues.

I remember the days when anything FF, or Cloud Strife, would have the comments jam packed with activity.
Here we are today, and……………. crickets. FF sure has fallen, and it has taken VII with it.
Doesn’t help that people wanted a remake of FF7 and instead are getting a reboot, a multi-part reboot that has the entire first game take place in the worst town in all of FF. Every time I played FF7, I hated the game until we got to leave midgar, after that it was just an ugly FF game (since FF6 had insane 16bit graphics, the extremely ugly FF7 graphics were overly disappointing, even more so once FF8 and FF9 showed that the ps FF didnt have to be hideous looking) and now the entire first game is inside of midgar…that’s a hell no to purchasing it. I don’t even want it for free, the thought of being stuck in midgar the whole game is just torture, why put myself through that?

Cloud in RE2? No offense to the creator of this mod, but Cloud doesn’t deserve to appear in such a masterpiece of a game. That whiny nutjob sucks.
