Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem has sold one million copies

WOLCEN Studio announced today that their action RPG Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem has reached over one million sold units. The developer also announced that the first four months after release will be dedicated to bug-fixing and polishing.

After that four-month period, the studio will focus on developing new content. The team will then expand Wolcen’s story with a fourth act.

To celebrate this milestone, WOLCEN Studio released several in-game-statistics. Over one million characters have been created and 12.874.233 monsters were killed. Furthermore, players spent 17.406.590 hours playing Wolcen and looted 115.347.589.950 gold (after removing a gold exploit).

In case you weren’t aware of, Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem is a new hack n slash RPG for the PC. The game is using Crytek’s CRYENGINE and looks absolutely gorgeous. However, and despite its Early Access phase, the game had tons of bugs at launch. Thus, the team promises to fix most of them before adding new content to the game.

Stay tuned for more!

  1. I think maybe in a year I’ll reinstall it and see if it improves any, kinda doubt it though.

It had one of the worst launches in recent memory for a game, bugs that should have been fixed in beta made it into the 1.0 release (item and gold duping, bugs that would make you completely unable to play the game due to crashing on the main menu after using the forge and dark market, etc). Them saying they can only release 1 patch per week as per some “agreement” with their server partners… which is just weird… and that’s not even scratching the surface of what they still need to fix such as the skill-tree.

  2. After about 100 hours I can say that it’s really fun, but still very buggy with some important features missing

  3. this is awesome news to such a small indie developer! hope those money can help them further improve the game. i know there are many haters.. even the game journalists were giving low scores. fact that they don’t see them as small indie developers. they don’t have huge staffs nor unlimited fundings. it’s kinda obvious they also don’t have the capability to sponsor game journalists like other big corporate publishers.

    1. Well said x100. I could not agree more it really is amazing what they accomplished and have achieved with their budget, unknown status, resources and everything else going against them.

I think it is insane consider it is a indie game and what the game all has and just how damn good it is. ARPGs are My favourite genera and this is easily My second favourite to Grim Dawn.

  4. Really good game, sadly the game is super buggy. If they make it more playable and less buggy, this will be as good as Diablo 2,Torchlight, Titan Quest and Grim dawn. It is that good, but ye.. SUPER buggy. I’m not even kidding. Warcraft 3 Refunded edition is less buggy LOL (this is worth it more than Warcraft tho)

  5. Easily My second favourite ARPG of all time, Grim Dawn is My number one.

I have 50+ hours in it with the offline SP mode and I have loved every moment of it. The loot is amazing, the Gem system owns, the skill are rad and I their progress and rune pool system is very nice, the character points can actually be added to want ever you want and the mega talent tree like POE is massive and is insanely good. The perks plus points in the mega talent wheel are very good and you actually want them all. There really are so many insane build that you can make and spec.

I am a OG Kickstarter backer and I am honestly very happy with how it turned out and would easily back their next project again. Yeah, I am a huge fan of the game with out doubt. I can’t even imagine how good it will be in a years time now that they have this sort of funding!

    Awesome news!

  6. That’s pretty damn good for that short amount of time (I’m sure they’re combining their backer numbers in with the totals though).

  7. It’s got really bad reviews atm, lots of gamebreaking issues but I got it on my wishlist so I can follow how it comes.

I really hope they sort out the issues so there’s another great ARPG to enjoy.

  8. I must me in the minority, I had zero bugs through the entire story line except one disconnect from act 2 to 3. I need PVP and Hardcore mode to continue the dumb end game grind though. I feel like I got my moneys worth so far, hopefully more content is added to make the grind worth something cause right now im not gonna.
