Now instead of shutting the whole project down, the team aims to release a game without the James Bond references. As such, the team still plans to complete and release this 90s shooters.

We first informed you about this GoldenEye 007 fan remake in October 2018. GoldenEye 25 was a fan-driven mission to remake GoldenEye 64’s single player campaign in Unreal Engine 4. The team planned to release this remake in August 2022 on the PC for free.

Lastly, the team will rename GoldenEye 25 to Project Ianus. The team will also delete all the GoldenEye 25 social media accounts this Friday.

  1. Are all these “fan made” project announcements completely pointless or is it just me? We usually never get to play anything because they are either cancelled or incomplete.

    1. It’s pointless but sometimes there are exceptions, the copyright owner can give a green light to a fan-made project. The only example I know is the interactive experience based on The Orville but that is because the people behind the show actually respect their audience. The team that made the interactive game is also famous for the “Stage 9” VR experience that was an accurate depiction of the Enterprise set from Star Trek TNG but they had to shut it down after they got a C&D from CBS.

  2. Who cares about C&D letters, frankly?
    Just keep developing the game.
What could happen to you? You’ll be arrested? You’ll be sued? lol
Where do you live? Depending on the country where you live, C&D letters have no value whatsoever.

    1. Or just change the names of things, instead of GoldenEye, call it SilverEye. Instead of James Bond call him Jaime Long…and so on.

      1. ? I could be happy with that. I’m sure they can find a way to keep developing this legally anyway. It’s not like they use stolen assets (I guess?).

  3. Last time something like this happened we got Daymare 1998. Not expecting much if they see it through to completion

  4. Good. I wish people would release their mods once completed instead of announcing it just to get some e-fame before receiving a C&D with a sad emoji.

  5. The people that made AM2R played it smart by keeping quiet until their game was ready for release. Nintendo didn’t see it coming.

  6. Blah blah blah. Everyone else has already said what needs to be said. Just another worthless, dead “fan remake”. Moving on.
