Hi-Rez Studios has released the last update for Tribes Ascend. Titled ‘Parting Gifts’, this patch marks the end of the official support for Tribes Ascend.
Tribes Ascend was a really weird case. The game attracted a lot of players when it was released, however Hi-Rez Studios did not implement features that were promised. And… well… this obviously upset a lot of players.
Hi-Rez Studios then decided to abandon Tribes Ascend to its fate when out of nowhere, in 2015, the team returned to it in order to further polish it.
And now, here we are with the last update for this F2P first-person Tribes shooter.
You can find the complete changelog for Tribes Ascend’s last patch here.

It’s so sad when games with active player bases have their servers shut
down ( no matter what game is ) I mean they should give the option of a community funded one at least.
The servers wont be going anywhere. They are just ending support for it so no more patches.
Is it so hard to RTFA? Patches are done, not server support.
The game isn’t dead though.
One of the best MP games I’ve played.
Well I can’t say I’m surprised.
hi-rez is a disgusting company. everything they have ever done has been shady and or morally wrong…
I have never played it
You can’t go wrong with Tribes if you like multiplayer shooters.
It’s trash
Well, it’s better than the majority of other trash out there.
depends what you classify trash…
Because…
VGTG
Probably one of the worst multiplayer companies out there lol.
To their credit, they did noticably improve the game before ending support. I think my installation used to take up over 15 GB at some point. The new Steam version took up about the size of a single layer DVD if I recall correctly, 3-5 GB.
Last I played it it was still fun, some new maps as well and can’t you use all features? No more unlock grind at all? I might be wrong about this one. Any way, in my eyes they redeemed themselves somewhat by fixing up the game before moving on for good.
I don’t really have any love for most of Hi-Rez’s business, but at this point, the game is basically completely free, and yet they’re still fronting the cost for patching the game, even if it is the final one, and running the servers. That’s… pretty damn noble honestly.
Eh, they cut it loose a long time ago and came back to fix it. They weren’t coming back to give it full ongoing support.
Look how successful their moba and overwatch clones are. At this point, tribes not being popular has little to do with hirez and more to do with the lack of interest in games that require skill to play.
