Treyarch Announces Modding & Mapping Tools Coming To Call of Duty: Black Ops III

Treyarch has just announced that modding and mapping tools will be coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops III. We don’t know whether there will be modding tools for the SP mode, however this is undoubtedly great news for all PC gamers.

As Treyarch noted, here is its current plan:

  • You will be able to create Maps & Game Modes and more!
  • We will include Unranked Dedicated Server Files with the tools so you can run servers with modded content anywhere you choose.
  • We will provide an Unranked Server Browser so you can easily find and join servers with modded content.
  • Closed Alpha target date:  March 2016

Call of Duty: Black Ops III releases on November 6th, so stay tuned for our PC Performance Analysis.

As always, we strongly suggest avoiding pre-orders. However, if you can’t wait until our PC Performance Analysis for Black Ops III gets published, you can pre-order it via the following button.

        1. The first Black ops had mod tools, granted BO2 didn’t but it was still a really solid pc game. They care. Unlike IW and now SHG

          1. black ops 1’s modding tools weren’t as complete you couldnt make maps but I think you could still add models for weapons and game modes.

  1. Treyarch what are you doing, please stop, you are going to force me to buy a COD game again after the great COD4.

  2. How many games / years they need to realize this? Call of Duty 4 is still the most popular CoD on PC because of this, and it came out 8 years ago. Currently they are nearly 14000 players, and it’s more than any other CoD on PC (the next one is Black Ops 2 – 7000 players).

I’m not even saying about the prices they set. 60$ for a base game, then 50$ for a season pass, then another 100$ for skins and some other crap.

    1. yup, and yet it still have waaaay better Star Wars Game modification (galactic warfare) than EA’s Battlefront
Imo cod 2/4 were/still are, the best cod games

  3. Very good to hear… Then I saw this on the treyarch site (hopefully its just a legalese “out” they never have to use)…

    “Please
remember that this is software development, so things don’t always work
out exactly as planned. Sometimes features slip or drop off
altogether, sometimes they get replaced with other, more awesome
features as we hit into limitations of our original plans.”

  4. singleplayer is undoubtly the best., But please do tell me what exactly has cod4 mp have these days? It is generic and lets not get into 2.

    1. MW has the best single player. The mission in Chernobyl alone can beat everything MW2 did.

As for multiplayer, MW has mods and maps. MW2 doesn’t even have the server browser. No wonder no one is even playing it (compared to MW).

Sure if you like a borring ultra scripted atmospheric mission, i dissagree mw2 has more interesting levels and action and blops 2 has better gameplay.

        1. Disagree all you want. The main problem of the MW2 campaign is that they tried to introduce too many playable characters. Sometimes it’s hard to follow the plot. Seems like they really like that approach in MW, but they overdid with it in MW2.

AlterIWNet was shut down by Activision years ago.
