Titanfall 2 – All DLC maps and modes will be available for free

Respawn Entertainment’s head of development David Wightman has just confirmed that all of Titanfall 2’s post-launch map packs and modes will be available for free to everyone.

As David told Gamesradar:

“We’ll definitely be supporting Titanfall 2 post-launch, and I can confirm all maps and modes we deliver post-launch will be free. We’ll be talking more about post-launch plans closer to release so stay tuned for more info.”

It will be interesting to see what Respawn has in store for us.

In case you didn’t know, Titanfall 2 will feature both SP and MP modes. The single player campaign in Titanfall 2 will let fans step out onto the Frontier as a Militia rifleman with aspirations of becoming an elite Pilot, and will be playable offline.

“Stranded behind enemy lines and facing overwhelming odds, players must team up with a veteran Titan to uphold a mission they were never meant to carry out. In multiplayer, Respawn is continuing to evolve their best-in-class gameplay to provide a more robust experience that delivers expanded depth and variety that includes six new Titans, deeper Pilot abilities, more customisation options, and a robust progression system that is sure to satisfy fans.”

Stay tuned for more!

  1. Lets hope they don’t go back on their word as other companies including EA have that claimed all free DLC.

  2. This is the only way to prevent a community from not splitting up and then the game dying a quick death as result. EA had to learn this the hard way with Titanfall 1 and Battlefront 1. I am 100% sure Battlefront 2 will do the same as what Titanfall 2 is doing.

    1. But will Battlefield 1 do the same? If they do, i’ll insta buy it. This feels like a way to make people buy this game. Feels like a Respawn only thing. Dice always loved splitting the players.

BF 2,3,4,Bad company 2 and Battlefront did it.. i fail to see why they FINALLY wanna stop doing it. I don’t trust Dice anymore. Lets hope you are right and i’ll end up being happy for once. Tired of being disappointed by my hobby.

      1. Bad Company 2 didn’t have paid DLC, unless you bought the game second-hand. Otherwise, everything post-launch was free. BF3 was the one that started the whole “Battlefield Premium Season Pass” thing.

        Otherwise, agreed.

        1. I mean Vietnam 🙂 it split all my friends. Actually, the most played servers right now ( i checked a 2 weeks ago) were Vietnam ones.

It was an expansion, but then again.. all DLC is that in some way. BF3 added a ton of new maps, weapons, modes and perks. BF3 DLC was more of an expansion than Vietnam.
Vietnam was 5-7 new weapons, same modes, a few new maps and new skins. Barebones.

        2. And yea, Vietnam was like 15-20 $ and they finally lowered it to 10 after 50 years. 😛 Actually thats even worse. With Premium.. you pay a ton of money, but you also get a ton of DLC. Vietnam might be really overpriced now when i think about it.

      2. No BF1 has confirmed some weeks back that it will dish out map pack DLC which means they want to split up the community and it wouldn’t surprise me if they charge more for each pack on their own or all together for another £45, it’s why I’m not going to buy the game despite them claiming it will have a proper server browser.

        1. “proper server browser.”

          iLol’d.

          I can see how that’ll play out already;

          3 years later….

“Hey, remember that time DICE said they were doing a “proper” server browser?” 😀

          1. I’m thinking something as dumb as “click Server Browser, watch in-game browser window open, & load up Battlelog.”

Because, why bother doing something actually good, when you’ve already got something that works?

    2. Not a chance.

I’m just waiting for them to announce Battlefield 1: Premium now, just as with Battlefield 3 & 4.

EA doesn’t care about community or longevity, they just want the money from the “Season Pass”, & Premium gives them a sh*ttonne.

      1. BF1 announced to have map pack DLC some weeks back, wouldn’t be surprised if they cost more on their own a piece and then £45 together but trickled down to you over the course of a year to sap you dry.

It’s been clear for a number of years that EA don’t care for their games longevity, it’s why a vast majority of their pumped up titles are mostly always online MP based or based on a server that they control, it’s easy for them to hype up a game, get loads of praise while charging nearly £80 a pop per game with their season passes+DLC and then giving it two years before the communities die and they pump out another sequel.

I like some of their games but I think their business model is both greedy, short sighted and pointless in the long run. Also I miss C&C and hated how they killed off both that franchise and Sim city. All those guys are about now is sports, shooters and a racing game with one action title.

    3. It’s a shame they didn’t learn to do with with battlefield 1 since that is coming with community splitting map packs that will no doubt be sold for another hefty £45.

  3. That’s a surprise.
But then again, cosmetics are all the hotness these days so microtransactions still on the table.

        1. a greedy move? sure, but again, no consequence on gameplay. and if it means itll keep the game alive and supported then why the hell not?

          1. I’m just saying that if I’m paying full price for a game and still not getting everything the game has (gameplay affected or not) it is kinda @rse.

          2. yea i get that. what im saying is that with that business model is how you end up with yearly releases. why bother making more content for the game if most of the sales were done in the first few weeks anyways?
on MP games at least it helps give the games some longevity

          3. I get that, I’m saying it rubs me the wrong way.
We have come a long way since “Horse Armor” and I don’t know if letting this things pass would lead us to another thing.

          4. i have no issue letting the rich players that care about cosmetics support the game for me :p

        2. No really, shiny skins and voice lines do virtually no damage what so ever to the gameplay at all. It’s only when it;s micro trans for characters, mechs, guns and loadouts that it causes actual damage to the community.

          1. Partially disagree, people can get jealous if a player has a different skin or voice line or whatever. Not on us to judge, but I think it can affect a community just as map packs.
Again, gameplay remains unaffected, but the game can more than that for some.

          2. Getting jelly because I have a different coloured skin isn’t going to throw the match or make you less better in any way shape or form, that kind of logic could very well work in real life but at the end of the day with both lessons, you have to pay to get them, or in the video game you earn them by leveling up like everyone else does, you even get a 20% exp bonus with friends which levels you up a lot faster than playing with randoms.

I disagree, I don’t think it;s anywhere on the same level of map packs, map packs cause a proper divide within the community, not having a red coloured skin for one character doesn’t. One has to be paid with real cash and a lot of it while also waiting for months to a year before it comes out, with the other you can earn it with leveling up, buying with in-game currency which you can also earn or paying a small price for a box, the map packs are never a small price.

          3. Those are called millennials….aka….p()$$ies …..
They need safe places to avoid honest and legit criticisms…
They need mom and Dad’s basement till they are in the 30’s at minimum…
They need the government to control their lives for “safety”
They need handouts, expect to get everything they want without paying for it or putting in the hard effort to attain it….

            “jelly” indeed….lol

  4. ok thats a very good move the only way a dlc should be payable is when it offers a huge content like witcher 3 or any expansion pack before the 360 and ps3 started that horrid trend! GG EA thats how you should do it

    1. How do you know the multiplayer mode is awesome? And that the singleplayer campaign won’t turn out sh*tty?
For me it’s a bit like saying that a house will be great and you’ll buy it outright – just after looking at the scaffolding and some sketches.

        1. Yeah, you can only hope or suppose, but you’ll never really know if the game is good before the release.
Mafioso jumped the gun with all that instant enthusiasm, in my opinion.
