It appears that Epic Games has pushed a brand new version of its latest video-game engine, Unreal Engine. And although there aren’t any release notes of the improvements that have been made to Unreal Engine 5.1, Xenthorx packaged the Matrix Awakens Megacity Demo for players to download.
Now what’s interesting here is that this demo appears to be running better in UE5.1. Or at least that’s what the following video showcases.
For instance, there aren’t as many stutters when driving as there were in Unreal Engine 5. It’s not perfect as there are still some stutters. However, things are significantly better (even when walking). Again, we don’t know what changes or tweaks Epic made to Version 5.1.
You can download the Matrix Awakens MegaCity Unreal Engine 5.1 Sample from here. Below you can also find a video from it.
Have fun!

will try it see if there is any changes
Stuttering Engine 5.
The same mess like in UE4.
What is even more funny…
Not so long ago I launched Bloodhunt (that BR game with vampires) and was surprised that in the main menu game does a shader compilation :O
A F2P game from a small studio has such a feature, meanwhile large AAA games don’t..
Devs’ laziness knows no bounds.
Besides the shader compilation issue that can be fixed by compiling them ahead of time, Unreal Engine also uses a self-written garbage collector.
The stutters caused by this mechanic during gameplay unfortunately can never be fixed, similar to the ones seen in Unity Engine games.
If you use an NVIDIA graphics card, have you ever tried clearing the Shader Cache by setting its size to disabled under “Manage 3D Settings”, applying, and then setting its size to something like 10 GB and applying again to increase the size of the shader cache? This can help with stutters in some games.
Oh, also, you may want to disable the “Shader Pre-Caching” in Steam. Not 100% certain if that will help, but personally I don’t like the idea of Steam downloading pre-compiled shaders from other peoples’ computers and trying to use them as a shader cache for my games. I mean, seriously, both NVIDIA’s graphics driver and Microsoft DirectX have shader caches… I think even AMD’s Radeon driver has a shader cache…
On Linux, both DXVK & VKD3D-Proton have their own shader-caches, so that once a shader is compiled, it won’t cause any stutter anymore during gameplay once requested again.
And why do you disable Steam’s shader pre-caching feature?
That’s exactly what can prevent stutter from occuring during gameplay in the first place, thus keeping it enabled makes quite alot of sense.
(AFAIK, it only works for OpenGL & Vulkan games, but since every game on Linux gets translated to Vulkan anyway, shader pre-caching mostly benefits Linux users the most.
And Valve’s real motivation for setting up such an infrastructure was the Steam Deck all along, so that its customers could have a pleasant gaming experience out-of-the-box.)
If Steam downloads corrupted shaders, or the shaders were corrupted during download, or perhaps the shaders are for an older version of the game then it could potentially cause problems.
Besides, there is zero need for Steam to download cached shaders from other peoples’ computers. As I already said, both Microsoft DirectX and the NVIDIA graphics driver have shader caches, so its just wasted effort on Steam’s part. I have my NVIDIA driver shader cache set to 10 GB, so all someone else’s cached shaders would help with is reducing performance impact the first time a shader needs to be compiled.
What was on RDR2 NFO?
lmao epic rant. good calling ghey star ghey, but he shouldn’t put a female handler “empress”.
Priceless!
Is possible to fix stutter in ue4,. But devs doesnt care
Yes so that’s not the engine itself. That’s only because devs doesn’t care to pre-compile shaders.
Hi, any alternative link?
Hi, I found a workaround 🙂 Watch this video: watch?v=4gSCFvfbvRw
thank you very much ! 🙂
Doesn’t work for me, gives error: Game files required to initialize the global shader library are missing. Any idea, or solution?
Thx in advance!
You’ll probably need the UE5 shader library. Search on the web for it.
UE5 – *exists*

The link doesn’t work as google drive is constantly exceeding within amatter of minutes, so not much of a fix, when they have to wait a full 24h for the same to occur.
When people share this, they really need to come up with better alternatives, rather than relying on others, as everyone on youtube and other sites seem to use the exact same link.
What happened with Torrents, have people forgot on how share this as a torrent?
People could easily share with each other via torrent instead of these extremely limited google and mega links?
1 – create a folder on your GDrive, leave it empty
2 – click on the link and select “add shortcut to GDrive”, then select the folder you’ve created
3 – go to your GDrive page and right click the folder and select “download”
4 – ???????????
5 – profit
Just tried exatly what you suggested, still get the message prompt “Download quota exceeded for this file”
What?! When you do this it doesn’t go to that page to download, it does it directly from your acc. But being a Google stuff, we can’t guarantee shlt is going to work.
One would think so, however even making a copy of the file doesn’t seem to work as well.
I know right, thats google being google and precisely my point.
Use this workaround sir: watch?v=4gSCFvfbvRw
