The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild feature 2

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be playable from start to finish on CEMU in 2-4 months

Yesterday, we shared a video showing the WiiU version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild running on the latest – and unreleased – version of CEMU. And according to its developers, this brand new WiiU title will be playable from start to finish in 2-4 months.

As the developers claimed, a new version of CEMU will be released this Friday. This version will be similar to the one that was used in yesterday’s video, however the audio issues are said to be fixed in it.

According to the developers, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will probably be in a state where you can play it from start to finish in 2-4 months.

Do note that this does not mean that this new Zelda game will run bug-free on CEMU in just 4 months. It may take years until the team fixes all the bugs – and there might be performance issues – however the game will be playable from start to finish.

We’ve included below the video showing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild running on the unreleased version of CEMU in case you’ve missed it.

      1. My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, ‘If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.’. Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- ‘Don’t ever smoke. Please don’t put your family through what your Grandfather put us through.” I agreed. At 28, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because your post gave me cancer anyway.

          1. I hooked my nips up to a car battery when I typed this. So there was plenty of trouble.

    1. the ps2 emulators are amazing. same with dolphin … honestly who wants to clutter up their home with dozens of consoles and hundreds if not thousands of game boxes…

        1. yea no thanks, ill take my games in digital format via emulation with the ability to play at any resolution i want with any controller conceivable. as well as the ability to bring my emulator hdd to a friends house to hot swap into his pc to do some coop if possible.

          1. ps2 emulation is still far from perfect, and it took many years just to emulate ps1 correctly thanks to Xebra emulator (XEBRA PS1 is emulator done by reverse engineering the PlayStation, resulting in the most accurate PlayStation emulator possible, so it runs PS1 games without any hacks, sound issus, missing music, and glithes that ePSXe has). Maybe in the future ps2 emulation will so good as Xebra, but for now it’s problematic and I prefer playing on original hardware (or ps3, x360 becase many games were remastered since ps2 era)

          2. you keep cherry picking ps2 emu bc it fits your opinion. If you take all the mulators into account with higher res support in some cases fps fixes, hardware acceleration, graphical enhancements and hacks its way better and you have more options. Original copies are stuck to whatever was the case at that time. why dont you mention how bad dolphin….oh that right its amaing, zsnes also amazing, ps1 emu amazing, psp emu is fantastic, the ds one is pretty rad, the versions of cemu ive used were excellent aside from audio which theyre addressing since its brand new. so stop cherry picking 1 example, it makes you look very biased

          3. God Of War 2 was just one example becase most people recongizes that game, but there are other games like Metal Gear Solid 2/3, Gran Turismo 3, NFS 6. In fact many games use skip draw hack (and this hack does exactly what name suggest, remove effects) because otherwise you would see just glitches and games would be unplayable. I have tried PCSX2 in many times, and it was interesting to see old games in higher resolution, but besides testing purposes, I prefer to play them on the original hardware without graphics and sound issues, and even controller issues (thumbsticks are way too sensitive on PCSX2, nothing like on original PS2 hardware, and there’s nothing you can do about it even if you will use PS3 dual shock 3 gamepad on PC). I still have CRT TV for retrogaming, and PS2 games looks best on CRT. In SD resolution even blurry textures and low poly models looks good. In 4K you can see evey imperfection, and blurry textures will be even worse.

PCSX2 is for poeple who care only about resolution, but dont care that much about emulation accuracy. PCSX2 is nothing like Xebra PS1 emulator (that emu was reverse engineered PS1 basically and PS1 games runs superb on it, like on real PS1).

        2. Not only collectors, because ps2 emulation is still far from perfect and I dont like missing effects, glithers, etc.

      1. PS2 emulator is not perfect. It can emulate many games correctly but only in software mode (native resolution 640×480). In hardware mode you can use even HD and 4K resolutions, but games will lack important graphics effects. Also thumbsticks sensitivity is problematic on this ps2 emu, it’s not the same as on original hardware so games that reguire aiming with thumbstics arnt that fun. Try playing game like timesplitters 2 on ps2, and on emulator on PC (with x360 gamepad, or even ps3 gamepad connected to PC), and you will see what I mean.

          1. just booted up final fantasy 12 you could even increase the resolution… Maybe we arent playing the same games for me ff12, persona 3, mgs3 smt nocturne all work awesome.

          2. It depends on the game, in some games missing effects arnt that obvious (and many games run even without skip draw hack, so nothing is removed)

          3. So if im not noticing it does it really matter? I just played a bit of Wipeout pure on my psp emulator and it seemed ok. tbh if i cared that much about a 100% accurate version i would be a collector. Like with the nes , snes and genesis emulators i dont mind if the colors are slightly washed out or the scan lines arent perfect…

          4. snes and nes emulation is very good, and scan lines are related to CRT display technology not emulator itself (although some filters try to emulate that look on LCD and there are even hardware scan lines generators). If you will buy yourself CRT tv and use S-Video/EuroRGB conventer these games will look the same. But ps2 emulation remove important details from the games like shadows, and postprocessing effects, so games like God of war 2 doesnt even look similar anymore. Maybe you can accept that, but I prefer to play on real PS2 or PS3 (some games from ps2 are remastered on ps3, like god of war series for example)

    2. I should pay for a console with no games to play a game with awful resolution and no mouse for looking around. Ps2 and dolphin allows you to emulate the mouse.

      1. What good is that if the game was not made for widescreen it just makes everything look distorted

      2. In hardware mode PS2 emu can run PS2 games in higher resolution, but many of them will lack important graphics effects, for example in god of war 2 there will be no character shadows, bloom, postprocessing effects. Literally whole game atmosphere looks different on hardware mode. PS2 emu can emulate all missing effects, but only in software mode that run slow even on good CPU, and you will also end up with native resolutions like 640×480. I would rather play PS2 games on real PS2.

  1. what’s so good about a cartoony JRpg for man-children?
never cared much for zelda when you have adult RPG’s like the witcher and knights of the old republic

Nintendo wouldn’t have been so successful without their rabid fanbase
literally the Switch is a spit in the face to anyone who bought nintendo console
no backward compatability, no free multiplayer, 720P 30FPS with once again
old “remasters” and ports for the young console
why does anyone buy this? for the hype? nostalgia? for the brand?
what brand?, the brand who sold you missing content as “Amibos” to collect dust on some jerkoff’s shelf? the same brand who “innovates” with infinite mario sequels and terrible region-lock practices?

such a good brand… people are nothing more then a hivemind, like sheeps they scuttle at any over-hyped garbage and buy it regardless.. such is the mind of the ignorant masses…

    1. “what’s so good about a cartoony”

windwaker had that style and they bashed it alot back then, but it turns out that this style ages better than “Reallistic” 3d graphics

      ” JRpg for man-children?”

Try playing final fantasy 8, you will have no idea wtf is going on or how to do anything.

      “never cared much for zelda”

Zelda is not a jrpg, it has zero levels or leveled equipment or xp. It is a action adventure like darksiders, with dungeons filled with puzzles. Most of the ideas you see in darksiders or the last 2 tomb raider games were taken from zelda and metroid and castlevania.

“when you have adult RPG’s like the witcher and knights of the old republic”

and when you play nearly all of them, you need to take a break by playing something that looks like zelda or tales of Berseria.

      1. never played a single final fantasy game in my life
turn based combat with shallow story and anime tropes does not appeal to me

as for Zelda, believe me i tried seeing what’s so good about it
and i’ve found out nothing, it’s mostly nostalgia from the people who bought Ocerina of time which was back at the time, revolutionary.
those same people are now adults, and they still rave about old nostalgia for a series that can’t compete with the likes of other modern RPG’s in quality, storyline, voice acting, graphics, gameplay etc…

        1. “never played”

See you never played any final fantasy or zelda games and you want to have an opinion about them.

” it’s mostly nostalgia from the people who bought Ocerina of time which was back at the time, revolutionary.”

I dont like ocarina of time the framerate is horrible the dungeons are repettive rooms and it has too much padding.

      2. You do know that was at a time when realistic graphics were just simply difficult to render, right? These days I’m certain that most realistic games will age just as good, I mean look at Crysis. For a really old game it aged better than any console game. Final Fantasy VIII (my first and fav Final Fantasy, fight me idc XD) was easy to understand when I played it as a kid, got so far in it. And Zelda is an RPG, it doesn’t have to contain the cliche turned based stuff to make it an RPG. Sure it’s light elements but it has the fundamental things to describe it as an rpg action adventure game. Enemies have health, weapons can be upgraded and now the new game has 2 endings I believe. Not everyone can get themselves into those kind of games which is understandable. I have friends like that who really find Nintendo games childish, as well as Pixar movies and such.

    2. I thought only PS4 fanboys were like this. But it seems I was wrong.

The game might not be rated mature, but I do believe to enjoy it like really enjoy it, you need to be mature.

I can understand the frustrations at the technical limitations, but you clearly haven’t played Zelda if you don’t know the joy it brings. They are delightful games and impeccably designed with systems that make coherent sense.

What you wrote is just ignorant.

      1. Yeah, holy crap. I so wasn’t expecting these responses on here. I assumed PC gamers would be better than this. But I guess it’s easy to criticise a franchise that isn’t available on the preferred hardware. If anything I know Zelda games have always been some of the most innovative in the industry. BoTW is exactly kind of fantasy game I dreamed of playing since I first played OoT all those many years ago.

But I will admit, the art style just isn’t doing it for me. It’s either that or the technical limitations as you’ve mentioned. I just wish I could see a Zelda game using the most cutting edge graphics with the style of Twilight Princess honestly. As a handheld device it’s really impressive visually, but as a console game it’s a little disappointing. But I’m not gonna let that ruin the experience for me… the lore and music in that game is too good to pass up on 😛

      2. It’s his opinion. I’ve know many who don’t like Witcher 3 because they don’t like RPG genre as a whole. So he might not like Zelda because it doesn’t appeal to him or his preferences. His opinion or comments are not gonna change the game or its quality. So no need to take it seriously.

        1. It’s his opinion founded on ignorance. I don’t think its right to say “his opinion” and leave it when he doesn’t have the right to state it like facts. If you wish to criticize something, you must earn that right first. And then convey the reasons clearly, not throw a tantrum with nothing but confounded blabber.

I don’t think its right for me to criticize a book I never read, and I most certainly don’t think saying its just my opinion makes it anymore valid.

          1. That’s another thing. See having opinion is one thing but whether that opinion is valid or invalid is another.
The differences come when you start giving importance to invalid opinion (as we can clearly see in today’s world). That’s why I said no need to take it seriously and give any importance. As I say don’t feed the trolls.
Also when you say Zelda is good game others will see that as your opinion as well and may not find themselves it to be as interesting even if they didn’t played it.

    3. In portable mode 30fps and 720p on tiny screen is more than enough. If console like that could run many ports from ps3 or x360 in 720p, I would buy it myself because I like that idea of playing AAA games everywhere I want.

    4. Comeee on, dont be a killsport, buzzkill, partypooper! Can’t we enjoy a series that brings back memories from when we were kids? We’re talking about 17 fking years here, don’t do that man. I get your point but don’t do that.

You’re not hurting the creators with your words, they couldn’t care less, they’re still making top dough, you are hurting us, your fellow players.

    5. I dont get why zelda is for “man-children” but other games are ok. Unless you consider gaming in general a hobby for man-children your comment makes no sense.

      1. the demographic who buy nintendo consoles are usually adults
even though their consoles are designed to be “child-friendly”
in the end it’s just a bunch of hipsters/raving fanboys who go out and buy a console for some medicore games because of brand loyalty

the same could be said about Sony to be honest…

    6. I don’t think they care what you think though XD Have you played Breath of the Wild? There’s a reason it’s getting a 98 Metacritic score vs. the dry bland games like Horizon. Just bland. Not that they care anyway, they’re worth more than Sony, you think they’re up at night worried about your opinion? XD

  2. “there might be performance issues”

Just like when playing the game on Wii U and Switch (when in docked mode) because they both run abysmally at frame-rates as low as 20fps as evidenced by Digital Foundry. The only way to play the game at a *cough* smooth 30fps is in portable mode on Switch… in 720p.

    1. I know it’s a Wii U port but that doesn’t excuse what’s happened or somehow make it okay.

You’re expecting people to believe that a company so fiercely proud of its IP as Nintendo is would rush out a quick and lazy port of what is their most valuable IP next to Mario and release it as their new console’s premier launch title.

If Nintendo really has done such a thing then the current management in this post-Iwata era are clearly neglient in running the company. Given how terrible their new console is plus that of the half-finished state in which it’s been launched along with how compromised the visual fideltiy of Zelda BotW is then perhaps that’s true.

You’re expecting people to believe that Nintendo would do with Zelda what the godawful Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment has done to PC gamers. That comparison is deeply flawed to put it mildly.

That you’ve also attempted to imply that Switch isn’t weak will have folk suspecting that you’re either a wilfully deluded Nintendo fanboy or are otherwise somebody who has no idea what they’re talking about.

  3. Its like nintendo is cursed by the devil, they are so unlucky that the worst thing that can happen to them, does happen. Like say being able to play their latest game without needing to buy nor the game nor the console.

Seriously its like they broke every mirror and stepped on every black cat in Japan.

    1. Relax this emulator is not gonna run Zelda botw at steady fps in well over 4 -5 months . I’m sure by that time switch would pick up the pace.

      1. I wasnt even talking about switch, switch is another failure on itself after the failure wiiu was.

  4. I just started playing Ocarina of Time for the first time yesterday, my fist Zelda game. I love it.

    1. wind waker is pretty dope especially emulated at 1440p/4k. as well as link to the past, majoras mask and twilight princess.
