The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered feature

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered Will Get an Unofficial Multiplayer Mode on PC in September 2026

Now here is something really cool. A team of modders is working on an unofficial multiplayer mode for The Last of Us Part 2. This multiplayer mode will be made available in September 2026, and below you can find a 25-minute gameplay video for it.

As you will see, this multiplayer mode is still in an early development phase. Right now, there are a lot of placeholder graphics. However, its core gameplay mechanics appear to be working fine.

What’s funny here is that the first The Last of Us game featured a 4v4 multiplayer mode, called Factions. However, Naughty Dog decided to remove that mode from its sequel. And, in a strange turn of events, PC gamers will be able to experience it on PC really soon.

Modder Speclizer plans to release this Multiplayer Mod for The Last of Us Part 2 in September 2026. It’s worth noting that all the other mods from Speclizer are behind a Patreon wall. So, I don’t know whether this will also be a pay-to-play mod. I hope not, as this would kill all momentum for it.

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered launched on PC in April 2025. Its PC version was in much better shape than the troubled PC release of The Last of Us Part I. The game was not perfect. It still suffered from some traversal stuttering and had performance issues on CPUs with very few cores or threads. Even so, the overall PC release was far more polished and stable than The Last of Us Part I.

According to reports, Sony will no longer port its first-party games to PC. As such, the next game from Naughty Dog will not see the light of day on PC. To be honest, I’m not that excited about Intergalactic. The only game that looked at Sony’s latest State of Play was Marvel’s Wolverine. And while there were initial plans for a PC version, it appears that it will not hit the PC.

Anyway, enjoy the video and stay tuned for more!
