Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been delayed by 6 months

Warner Bros has announced that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been delayed by 6 months, and will now release in 2024. According to the publisher, this delay will give Rocksteady enough time to polish it.

SSKTJJ delay

Warner Bros was planning to release Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League on May 25th, 2023. So, I find it kind of hilarious that it had to delay it six months in order to polish it.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a Games as a Service (GaaS) game. The game relies heavily on weapons, and won’t be focusing on melee combat like the Batman: Arkham games. And, to be honest, this felt like a new Marvel’s Avengers game. Not only that, but its previous gameplay trailer disappointed a lot of players.

If I were a gambling man, I’d say that Warner Bros delayed it so that gamers can somehow forget what they saw back in February. Because, let’s be realistic here, Rocksteady won’t change the game’s core gameplay mechanics!

  1. I said this elsewhere, but the best thing they could do is just release the game today in the state it currently is in. Put it into Maintenance Mode like it’ll be put in shortly after release anyways, and move directly onto a game that people actually care about. Forcing Rocksteady into another year of development into this game isn’t going to help it any more. No one wanted this game to begin with, and wasting Rocksteady’s time on this travesty of a laughing stock is only hurting their reputation more.

I know it’ll never happen, but man, if they actually were able to be truthful and come out and say, this is a game that we were forced by the publishers to put in these Live Service mechanics, and just wash their hands of it… that would be a major step in the right direction. As it stands now this game reputation is unbelievably tarnished to the point a year of extra dev time won’t wash away most of the impressions it gave. Also yeah, spend another year letting people forget about Suicide Squad being a thing. This game should have been released with the movie and then everyone could have moved on.

  2. They should split the dev workforce,
team B to polish what’s left
and team A to start work on an UE5 powered linear action heavy DC game a la Arkham Asylum style

  3. This will flop hard, the damage is already done. All they had to do was make a single-player Batman game with current-gen graphics instead of a Suicide Squad themed Fortnite Clone and it would have sold 20 Million copies. Now it will be lucky to sell 2 million.
