SteamSpy has shared its preliminary results for the best selling games on Steam in 2015. According to them, Grand Theft Auto V is the best selling game that was released this year on Steam, followed by Fallout 4 and ARK: Survival Evolved.
As we can see, there are also some surprises in this chart. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, one of the most optimized PC games and a game that a lot described as GOTY, was not able to hit 1 million sold copies and is barely above Call of Duty: Black Ops III. The same applies to Mad Max; a game that impressed everyone with its spectacular performance. Mad Max sold less than Batman: Arkham Knight.
The games that were able to hit the one million sales mark are: Grand Theft Auto V, Fallout 4, ARK: Survival Evolved, H1Z1, Rocket League, Cities: Skylines, Prison Architect, Besiege, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Dying Light.
Do note that this graph only includes activations/purchases from April 1st to December 20th.

that Batman Arkham Knight figures though … 😛 watta shame!
I’m sure it wóuld have reached a million if it were playable on launch.
Many including myself got it free with a new video card.
The highest-selling game is a two-year-old console port. Pathetic -_-
Rockstar will probably release the next game with PC gamers as an afterthought too knowing it will sell well regardless.
I cant see why the butthurt, since its the best version of the game.
Non-sense… GTAV had a major update from it’s DX9 debut (which was 2 years ago). AND it was a highly optimized and has a great on-line mode. Not to mention that as far as open-world living cities go it is the best EVER made. Just because a game isn’t a PC exclusive doesn’t take away that the game id great. Your obviously a close minded fanboi. Grow up.
That doesn’t change the fact that GTAV is a last gen game. Don’t get me wrong, I loved GTAV but come on now.
This comment is legend
Some really odd numbers there. Dying light shouldn’t be selling more than MGS V. GTA V and H1Z1 shouldn’t have that many sales, The Witcher 3 should be selling more.
In case of The Witcher 3 that is likely due to the facts that the game is available on GOG Galaxy in addition to Steam. In June of 2015 there were almost 700.000 owners of The Witcher 3 on GOG Galaxy. I would guess that number is at least a million now. Add those figues to the Steam ones and Geralt suddenly has 4. place.
Yeah good point, I totally forgot about that.
But again, every copy outside of Steam is a Social Club code for GTA V, so if you felt the numbers was high for GTA V, it’s worse.
the numbers aren’t actually that surprising. MGS V was bound to sell way more on PS4 since MGS 4 was a PS3 exclusive. The Witcher 3 got divided between GoG and Steam and Mad Max had way less hype than Batman even with the Mad Max movie.
Not sponsored or Nvidia sponsored games dominating.
So much of AMD open standards. lol
I will not buy a PC game for more than $20 unless it’s Mass Effect or Deus Ex
LOL.
Yeah its a shame, Mad Max was one of my favourite games this year.
early access is taking over steam.lol.paying for demos ftw.
For a new year wish, you can choose to be less trollish or not post your “full of wisdom” comments here anymore.
As someone said here, many copies were shipped with Nvidia cards, not refundable.
A combination of the same rehashed games and some actual good games.
funny batman sales didn’t change at all since re-release (almost exactly the same as day1 ). and happy to see most of games with crappy DRMs didn’t do that well. i only paid full price for witcher 3 and i’m happy with and bought GTAV around 30$ and batman for free (didn’t even worth the download). but sad about those unfinished utter s**t early access survival craps.
So you bought resold codes from G2a. I guess it’s better than not buying.
he did.he just should have saved his money and pirated its just as bad.

no, i don’t have access to g2a. my uncle bought it, but instead of buying it in our family shared account, he bought it in my account 😀 then he said, well you download it and share it with other account.
Looking at GTA 5 makes me wonder if Rockstar finally realizes that PC gamers are not all pirates, and that they can actually make money on the PC aswell. Not just any kind of money either, a ton of money. I hope they start releasing their games on time from now on.
People probably wanna see how the Series will end, i do too. What if Half Life 3 was horrible (still looks amazing ) and it is the LAST Half Life game? You wont get if you were a big fan of the games?
News flash, Batman is more famous and well known than Mad Max. I know what you are saying, but yea. I actually liked Mad Max more as a game, and the deserts were gorgeous too!
Good to see undertale up there
WHERE THE F’ IS CSGO
dead hopefully.
http://steamcharts.com/app/730 You would have thought, over 500,000 people currently playing.
It sold 5.6 million copies but idk why the author did not include it here…
I picked up mad max but it was on G2A day 1 for 24 bucks.
