And here are the 10 best selling games that were released in August.

1.) METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN (691,086, price $59.99)

From the above stats, it’s pretty clear that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain had a great month on Steam. SOMA has managed to sell almost 48K copies, which is slightly above 50% of SOMA’s total sales. Do note that this 50% is not the game’s overall PC sales (as it’s being available via Humble Store and GOG.com). NBA 2K16 also had some great sales as it sold 42K copies in two days.

Good and interesting read about steam. 🙂

    1. Thanks! That’s certainly an interesting read … especially for (indie) game developers. Also funny to see I belong to the the 1% “core gamers” on Steam, since I own more than 107 games 🙂

  2. “Average price: $11.47”
That tells you all you need to know. 60 million of those 70 million “games” were indie-garbage…mostly mobile/flash/handheld games ported to PC/Mac/Linux, that people don’t think twice about buying because they’re $5, or less. The bundles, Weekly Deals, etc. are when the largest %age of Steam games are sold. If the majority of the 70 mil. were real games…or even current/new games….that average price would be MUCH higher.
