Sid Meier’s Civilization Beyond Earth Announced – Sequel To Alpha Centauri [UPDATE: Announcement Trailer]

IndieRetroNews’ Neil G has informed us about the latest part of the Civization series. According to IndieRetroNews, Sid Meier is currently working on Civilization Beyond Earth; a new Civilization game that will be the sequel – or rather a “what would happen after Civilization V” game – to Alpha Centauri.

Sid Meier’s Civilization Beyond Earth will feature 3 types of planets from lush vegetation to airy decaying worlds.

Players will start with an Outpost and their one and only goal will be to survive.

Here are the main goals that players will have to fulfill:

– Find proof of existence of an ancient life on the planet and try to make a first contact,
– Resume contact with Earth by deploying a satellite,
– Return to Earth (if you find out it still exists),
– Host Terran refugee on your new planet.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. I totally called a Alpha Centuari (2).

Really a no brainer. I’m more interested in this game than I was Civ V, too. Sounds good. Can’t wait for the Steam sale. 😉

  2. According to lead designer David McDonough … “I am a big fan of the way warfare was designed in Civilization V…”

    Confirmed to be shit.

    Nice teaser trailer, though…
