  1. Wow. Wasn’t expecting that but this is the direction that games have been moving in for a while now. Massive storage requirements. Supposedly the final game Star Citizen will be around 100 GB storage space but that’s understandable I guess.

Meanwhile sites like PC Gamer are pushing a fast 1 TB SSD as the only drive in a build. That’s fine I guess if you have a fast internet speed and no cap so you can be downloading massive games frequently. For me I chose a 256 GB SSD and a 4TB HDD so that I can keep all of my library that I might want to play again in storage.

    1. Personally, I like 250 gig to 500 Gig SSDs and no more than 1 terabyte HDD…HDD wise I use only 2.5 inch HGST 7200rpm. I prefer the smaller size for fit and aesthetics.
I recently bought an Intel Optane 280G pcie ssd. Love it. I have around 250 games and countless dlcs….Thinking about making a server this year so I can down load all of them just in case…So, I will need a much larger HDD or SDD. Anybody got any opinions on best cost for Size and quality? I I will want to have redundancy drives of course

      1. With hdd’s the sweet spot is around 5tb for price to size. With SSD’s its pretty even all around but i’ve noticed 1tb dropping recently and for me thats the most ideal.

    2. Star Citizen being 100GB is around what I expected it to be when I paid my 45, I expect most modern games with a ton of quality in texture, uncompressed audio, and uncompressed video to hit the 60-100GB range from AAA developers.

I how ever can’t even begin to comprehend what about Shenmue 3 needs to have 100GB of space available. It’s a AA game. It just seems completely off for it to be that big.

With that said, I need another f-cking hard-drive again. Great. My SSD is only 250gb, my HDD is 4TB, and now I need another one because I’m not deleting my personal uncompressed RIPS of my vinyl album collection or my Steam library backups.

Between all these modern games, and my hoarding of music, I’ll need to buy another 4TB hard-drive at least to get me through the next few years. Unless we start seeing 200GB games coming out soon, and I have a feeling they’re coming.

  2. I normally only have 1 game installed at a time, just what i’m playing at the moment so I don’t mind when games do this.

    1. I have a desktop with a 250GB SSD and a 2TB HDD. I prefer to only have games installed to the SSD though. I really don’t care if I am a huge exception.

  3. I have 6 TB of total storage space in my PC and it’s still not enough. Nothing will ever be enough because I have a hoarding problem lol.

    1. Isn’t it awful how these developers really think they need uncompressed audio when the vast majority of people more than likely don’t actually know how to, or just don’t know what the “look for”(Hear) with uncompressed audio?

I doubt the vast majority of people have speakers or headphones with a seriously decent HZ-range to bring out the quality in uncompressed audio.

  4. I need Shenmue 1+2 to release too though so I can replay both of those before this one comes out. I enjoyed both of those games on the DC and im looking forward to getting revenge on Lan Di. It will probably take me all week to download on my connection. =8^)
