      1. And? Still the most popular CoD in MP on PC.

The new version will only try to separate the audience, with no promises of mod support (see Doom 3 BFG). Not to say that it will be the same PC version with the same textures, models and animation, resold on consoles as is, and then on PC.

        1. What’s the problem of some people choosing to move to it if they were just playing the vanilla game?

It’s not like the promod crew is going to switch just because of a graphics update on the vanilla game…

          1. You guys seem to have a problem understanding how the remaster business works nowadays. When someone says that they are making a remaster, it doesn’t mean it will have a pack of hd textures, new models or smoother animations. Most of the time it’s just a PC version ported to X1 / PS4, because compared to X360 / PS3 versions it really looks like an hd version.

          2. Why would they not port it to the latest IWengine…Better lighting at the very least as well as particle VFX and so forth.
If they want to sell it on PC, which they will, it’ll have to be a decent remaster. Even the current console crowd won’t want those 2007 visuals.
They can easily repurpose newer assets from games that came after COD4.

          3. For the same reason why Doom 3 BFG wasn’t ported to id Tech 5, or DMC 4 (came out in 2008) wasn’t ported to the latest version of the MT Framework engine. Instead, Bethesda removed some dynamic shadows (but many people think that BFG looks better than the original game, lol) and Capcom added some kind of bloom that only kills the performance (really, the only difference between Special Edition and the original PC version).

The thing is, unlike DMC 4 and BFG they don’t even want to sell it. It will be included as a part of Infinite Warfare. Do you really think they will spent resources on this?

          4. What’s the point of all that confirmation bias? You only picked examples that proved your point.
I’ver never said that I knew what it was going to be, I’m saying that it’s a possibility, in my opinion a high one.

We only know that it’s part of a special edition of the new game, that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t sell it for 30$ or more as a stand-alone.

Some people have raised the point that if the new CoD is all out scifi battles in space, it will put off a chunk of their audience, which is probably why they decided to do this with COD4.

          5. I haven’t felt the need to do that until you asked.

And what did I see? The same old game under a load of bloom.

    1. ??? I would love to pick it up really was one great copy of 4 i also liked 3 but sadly no PC version came

    1. The franchise deserved to be called that for releasing the same game every year but now they’re actually copy and pasting the first game that started this whole infinite loop.

      1. do you guys realize WW1 =/= WW2 (showed in pretty much any war game that wasn’t set in modern ages)?

    1. BF5 is not WW1…I can’t believe you took one listing on a random swiss internet retailer as fact. It was either a mistake or placeholder, or both.

Did you even take a second to think how terrible a WW1 shooter would be both from a gameplay perspective alone in the context of Battlefield?

The most recent leaks, look extremely reasonable, the game will be called Eastern Front and it will be a prequel to 2142, if they are to be trusted.

      1. There can be something like a good WWI shooter. Verdun is a good example (health regeneration should be removed ASAP, though).
The problem is, the amount of content in WWI is too low to fulfill wet tacticool dreams of the target audience of Battlefield.
Developers get the most money from them and they wouldn’t risk losing so much cash by suddenly taking a 180-degree turn in terms of gameplay.
That’s why it’s common for me to disrespect AAA games. They most often don’t show anything new, just beat the dead horse.

        1. Verdun is pretty damn boring, trench warfare sucks.
I’m and old school BF fan and veteran and even i consider the idea of a WW1 BF absolutely ludicrous.
