    1. Am I the only one actually thinking that CA could be suitable for a game like this? In general imma CA hater though… But here, I actually think it looks nice! It kinda suits that distorted and gritty look they are going for.

      1. yea it definitely helps set the tone of the atmoshpere on an overall level but i hope the option is there on PC to turn off CA and film grain. I played alien isolation and when i turned off film grain the game looked sooooo much better

      2. I played the E3 PS4 demo and really enjoyed it. I thought the visuals were cool and didn’t really notice the CA but in general the visuals are a step back for the franchise (Resident Evil Remake has my favourite visuals but at the time RE5 blew me away too). On this title they’ve had to pair back the visuals to hit the 11ms frametimes required for VR (though I hear the Morpheus/VR version is a lot rougher looking than the PS4 version).

        1. Of course the visuals are a step back if you played it on a freaking weaksauce PS4… I think the visuals in the above screenshots looks fanstastic, some of them even somewhat photorealistic. Love the looks from what I can tell from these screenies.

    2. I guess it depends if you’re playing in VR or not. You get real CA from the Fresnel lenses when using Vive (not sure about Rift). Not used the PSVR either. To be honest in VR you can’t really worry about IQ anyway as it’s pretty poor atm (super low res / aliased etc).

  1. Looks interesting, keeping an open mind for this one… but like where the zombies at? It’s reminding me too much of Outlast. Don’t know if that’s a good thing or not.

    1. RE4? Yeah I liked that game at the time, which was ages ago. Despite how much that game changed from the original formula it somehow felt cannon to the whole franchise. I can’t tell how much this relates to the any of the others in the series.

      1. And that was many years ago 😛 I think I would of questioned it if there were no strange creatures in it at the very least. The way the villagers moved and how they morphed into those things kinda gave it the classic Resident Evil vibe in a way. They weren’t conscious of their normal lives due to the bacteria controlling their minds.

This one however seems like you’re just going against some crazy rednecks on some random farmland, with no indication of what it has to do with Umbrella lol… Again I’ll keep an open mind till the game opens up a bit more.

    2. outlast was boring and repetitive this looks like it is gonna be more puzzle focused and also have combat instead of hiding….hmmm first person adventure game with combat….is that a realms of the haunting sequel?

ps1: Not having zombies at this point is good, so many games with zombies.
ps2: these characters are intimidating, i want to kill them, zombies are just dead slow cannon fodder. So it is good this is not like outlast and you can actually shoot them.

      RIP outlast 2.

      1. But that begs the question as to why it’s being called Resident Evil 7 to begin with. What has it got to do with the previous games? I’m still waiting to know the connection with Umbrella or the previous characters.

The same thing is happening with Prey. Some people complained that the game wasn’t fun anyway, but others found joy in it like myself. And I quite liked the story and the build up to the end, along with the amazing soundtrack.

If the concept of zombies is really becoming overdone for many I personally believe they should of just retired the Resident Evil franchise indefinitely till people begin to beg the franchise to make a comback. For me Resident Evil has always been about the zombies and the viruses that set the narratives.

        1. There’s a new article in Famitsu that says there will be returning characters from the previous games. And the developers are being shy about how much they reveal, I have a feeling the player will come upon an Umbrella facility or something later in the game.

          1. Ah I just saw a random post on youtube with someone saying the same. You could be right about the encounterment though. Only way to know is by waiting till January, unless any trailer or gameplay suggests that’ll be the case beforehand.
