Relic Entertainment has just removed the Denuvo anti-tamper tech from its strategy game, Company of Heroes 3. Company of Heroes 3 came out in February 2023. This means that it took Relic almost three years to remove it.
Company of Heroes 3 aimed to bring the series’ intimate boots-on-the-ground storytelling to a brand-new theatre of war, unlocking authentic new tactics, factions, and a wealth of untold stories from World War II.
The game is using the Essence Engine 5, the latest evolution of Relic’s proprietary real-time strategy technology. It also came with a new and enhanced destruction system. And, even to this date, its destruction system looks great.
As we’ve reported, other companies have also removed Denuvo from several of their titles. In March 2023, KRAFTON removed Denuvo from The Callisto Protocol. NEOWIZ has also removed it from its Souls-like game, Lies of P. In October 2024, Gearbox removed it from Homeworld 3, too.
Then we have Capcom. Recently, Capcom removed Denuvo from Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny. That’s not the only game from Capcom that no longer has it. Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, and Resident Evil Village are Denuvo-free as we speak. Similarly, Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake no longer use it. In July 2025, the Japanese team also removed it from Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess.
Square Enix is another publisher that has removed Denuvo from a lot of its titles. For instance, the publisher has removed it from games like The Diofield Chronicle, VALKYRIE ELYSIUM, TRIANGLE STRATEGY, LIVE A LIVE, and Forspoken. Moreover, both Octopath Traveler and its sequel no longer use it. And, in May 2024, SE removed it from Star Ocean The Second Story R. Finally, in March 2025, the publisher removed it from Final Fantasy 16.
And that’s not all. Bethesda’s Wolfenstein Youngblood, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and Doom Eternal no longer have it. Warner Bros has also removed it from Mortal Kombat 11. Then we have Bandai Namco, which has removed it from Tekken 7 and NARUTO TO BORUTO: SHINOBI STRIKER.
All in all, it’s pretty good to see more and more devs removing Denuvo from their older titles. Seriously, there is no point at all for a game to have Denuvo after the first six months of its release. And I get it. Some publishers want to protect their games for their future DLCs. But once that DLC phase is over, there is nothing to gain from continuing to use Denuvo.
Stay tuned for more!

I thought I pirated this game because I remember playing it back when it launched, I'm disappointed in myself.
Anyways guys, make sure you never EVER support devs, the only good dev is a dead dev. I'm bothered by the fact that they breath my oxygens.
Either they missed it or they haven't removed the bloatware on the steam game – Store page still say it have Denuvo
This always happens with the Steam pages when devs remove Denuvo (it takes some time for the pages to get updated). If you look at the SteamDB, you’ll see that it was removed 7 hours ago.

Denuvo has saved me so much money. Gaming turned ours back on me and I respond in kind.
Let's hope they crack "Doom The Dark Ages" very soon !!!!!!!!!!!

Game is a giant pos. Do not buy it.
There was a big workaround for denuvo at some point a few years ago but this failed to grab me much beyond just toying around. The first one is still my fav by far, the custom maps were fun to try out for sp offline play. Never could get into the confusing second one. Mighty have fallen type of thing for me. That being said the first thing I did was go to some girls site and grab it.
