Quantum Break is one of the most demanding PC games that have been released recently. And to be honest, its spectacular lighting system and detailed characters somehow justify these requirements. Quantum Break’s lighting and global illumination effects are among the best we’ve seen in any game. However, at its time of release, the game lacked official SLI support. Well, not anymore as a workaround – offering incredible SLI scaling – has been found.
Do note that this works only with the game’s Steam version (that supports DX11). There is no workaround for the Windows Store version that is DX12-only.
NVIDIA users will have to follow these steps and use NVIDIA Inspector Tool in order to enable SLI in Quantum Break.
- Open the NVIDIA Inspector Tool
- Find Quantum Break’s profile
- Use this SLI compatibility flag for its DX11 mode -> 0x080002F5
- Head over at the SLI section
- Set predifined number of gpus to SLI_PREDEFINED_GPU_COUNT_DX10_FOUR
- Set nvidia redifined SLI mode directx 10 to SLI_PREDEFINED_MODE_DX10_FORCE_AFR
- Save your changes and exit the NVIDIA Inspector Tool
If you’ve done this right, Quantum Break will take advantage of your two GPUs. We’ve tested this workaround and it works fine, with great SLI scaling (95% scaling).
Here are some images from our Quantum Break profile.
Kudos to Guru3D’s member ‘darrensimmons‘ for finding this SLI compatibility flag that works great with Quantum Break!

WHY PEOPLE have to do this and NV does jackshyte omfg.
This is something the Dev’s of Quantum break should have fixed with their engine not Nvidia. Nvidia already has SLI profiles for Quantum break, but the Devs of Quantum break disabled it because it messes up the lighting.
I agree, but temporal techniques cannot be sacrificed in favor of AFR or SFR since so much is possible with temporal techniques (Checkerboard rendering, TAA, Temporal Post-Process, etc.)
At launch anything that would increase the scaling came with various bugs / flickering.
It would be nice if this works without glitches. I might try it thanks !
For those of you wondering why you need force this, it’s because it breaks the pretty looking lighting that causes the abysmal performance in the first place.
Edit. (from what I was reading when attempting to force SLI myself)
Tonnes of flickering still, especially with time manipulation. Finally plays good but looks like complete crap.
Thanks you spared me 70gb of download 😉
Perhaps you shouldn’t have bought it in the first place…
Very constructive thanks see yah.
What more constructiveness do you want? He apparently bought it, but couldn’t have played it in its then-current state, due to inadequate requirements of the game, it seems. He could have used a refund at least.
Sorry, you are correct Captain Hindsight. Your post added infinitely to our quick discussion. Wish you all the luck in your future endeavors saving the internet. Godspeed!
I completed it when it was released and enjoyed it, just not at the level that I’m used to. 1 gpu only is very limiting.
The game itself still looks and plays superb with single GPUs.
Kek finally a game where performance of 2 gpu setup is worth it

Oh, Microsoft! The fail train rumbles on.
Anybody able to fix the horrible artifact flickers when using this profile?
