NVIDIA has released a new driver for its graphics cards. According to the green team, the NVIDIA GeForce 581.42 WHQL driver offers optimal performance in Battlefield 6 and the latest update for FBC: Firebreak. So, if you are planning to play these two games, you should upgrade your driver.
Going into more details, this new driver fixes a crash issue in Battlefield 2042. However, it does not mention the crashes we’ve seen in some Unreal Engine 5 games. This means it may still crash on NVIDIA RTX 50 series GPUs when playing games like Silent Hill f and Borderlands 4. If that happens, I recommend using the same workaround as before. Or, if you’re playing Silent Hill f, just roll back to driver 580.88. I was able to complete the game without any crashes on my RTX 5090 with those older drivers. Not only that, but I wasn’t getting any visual artifacts.
The NVIDIA GeForce 581.42 WHQL driver also fixes some flickering issues in Forza Horizon 4. Moreover, it fixes some crashes that could occur in Planet Coaster 2. Framerate will no longer significantly drop when using Smooth Motion with RivaTuner FPS cap. On top of that, R580 drivers will no longer cause stuttering in games using the GODOT engine. For those wondering, NVIDIA is talking about the Samsung R580. It’s not talking about AMD’s RX 580 GPU.
Like always, you can download this new driver from NVIDIA’s website. Below, you can also find its complete changelog.
