Modder is working on a DLSS 3 Frame Generation Mod for Elden Ring & Skyrim

Now here is something really interesting. PureDark, the creator behind the DLSS/XeSS/FSR Mods for Resident Evil 2 Remake, Skyrim and Fallout 4, is currently working on a DLSS 3 Frame Generation Mod for Elden Ring.

Yeap, you read that right. A DLSS 3 Frame Generation Mod appears to be possible in a game that never supported DLSS or FSR. And, from what we know, this will be the first DLSS 3 Mod for any game.

This is huge news as it may allow modders to implement DLSS 3 in games that have major CPU optimization issues. For instance, PureDark may be able to add DLSS 3 to games like The Last of Us Part I or Hogwarts Legacy or Crysis Remastered.

In its current state, this DLSS 3 Mod appears to be working in Elden Ring, though it seems to have some image quality issues. Naturally, PureDark wants to address these issues first before releasing it. The modder is also looking into adding DLSS 3 in Skyrim.

Needless to say that this mod will only work on NVIDIA RTX 40 series GPUs. So, in case you were wondering, no. This mod will not allow DLSS 3 on non-RTX 40 series GPUs.

We’ll be sure to inform you the moment this DLSS 3 mod comes out!

    1. The Optical Flow Accelerators on RTX 20 and RTX 30 series GPU’s aren’t fast enough for DLSS3’s frame generation to guarantee a good experience. Obviously since the GPU’s have the hardware they are capable of frame generation, it just isn’t completely stable.

        1. Third-party sources have confirmed this. Someone found a bug in an early review release of Cyberpunk 2077’s update with DLSS3 that allowed turning on the frame generation on an RTX 2070, and while it technically worked it wasn’t smooth (although that could have also been due to lack of VRAM).

Keep in mind that previous advances in tech to the RTX 30 series GPU’s were also brought to the RTX 20 series. That’s fairly abnormal for NVIDIA, as they usually only focus on the current line of GPU’s.

          1. It’s possible it was fake. Doesn’t matter. Unless someone can figure out how to bypass the limitation, the tech isn’t coming to non-RTX 40 series GPU’s anyway, and considering that only the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 are capable of DLSS3’s frame generation in Cyberpunk 2077 I imagine that it wouldn’t work properly on RTX 30 series anyway, since only the RTX 3090, RTX 3090 Ti, and that 16GB RTX 3060 have enough VRAM to meet the framebuffer requirement for it.

        2. It made me remember the kerfufle of G-Sync and DLSS. they lock it and then adaptice sync ,fsr and xess arrive

  1. DLSS3 will not be the magic cure for how un-optimized this game is.
Let’s be real here, From Software is terrible dev with toxic fanboys who are d*ck riding the devs and they crappy games.

  2. Dlss3 is great if a card cant handle a game (in native res) – Beside one thing… input latency and nvidia seems to be well aware of it since they basically force reflex integration along with it.

I really hope dlss3 and other frame generation tech wont be used as an excuse to optimize games propely… but who am i kidding!
