Microids has just announced the signing of an agreement with the prestigious Japanese video game company Taito to produce two new titles based on Taito’s famous franchises.
The two games, already in production, will launch in 2022.
Being developed by experienced studios, these games will be a great addition to the Microids portfolio and greatly contribute to the company’s growth in international territories, especially in Japan.
Stéphane Longeard, CEO of Microids, said:
“Microids international development strategy is going strong and we are proud to collaborate with Taito. We are delighted the Japanese giant fully entrusted us with the development of these titles. We cannot wait to unveil the two projects we’re working on and we strongly believe they will surprise a lot of people!”

“We have full confidence in Microids capability to revive two of our licenses through the titles they will offer in the coming months. Gamers will be amazed to experience these games come back on today’s consoles.”

Taito still exist??
I was wondering the same thing. I had no idea!
From what I can tell, they seem to mainly do physical location amusement attractions in Japan these days. Their contributions to the game development business have been largely MIA over the last decade from what I’ve observed (unless there’s some large mobile push that I’m unaware of).
I really hope to see a remake for “The Ninja Kids” just like what they did with “Toki”.
