Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Releases to the PC on September 15th

Konami Digital announced today that the highly anticipated conclusion to the Metal Gear Solid V experience, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, will be released to the PC on September 15th via Steam.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the series’ largest and most ambitious edition to date, expanding upon themes and content seen in its predecessor: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.

Set within huge open-world environments, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is brought to vivid life with realistic weather patterns and day/night cycles. Thus, players can adapt their tactics to match the changing environment, creating an intuitive and non-linear gameplay experience. Similarly, a host of acclaimed Metal Gear Solid troops return in hugely advanced forms, including expanded CQC (Close-Quarter Combat) skills, vastly improved enemy AI, online elements that complement the single player campaign, and an all-new version of Metal Gear Online, a competitive multiplayer mode, included within the main game.

Hideo Kojima’s title aims to set a new standard in stealth-action, with the series’ famed sneaking elements greatly expanded within the sprawling play area.

“A host of new characters – both allies and enemies – tell a story driven by revenge, as franchise protagonist Big Boss enters a series of battlefields following the deaths of his colleagues. Central to the game is a hideously disfigured adversary known as Skull Face, while the ongoing conflict also introduces the new, iconic characters, such as the mysterious Quiet – a mute female warrior with incredible abilities.”

Tactical elements are also added to the game via Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’s new Mother Base system. Players begin with a small-scale off-shore rig, which can be customized and expanded using liberated items and personnel.

Players use an enhanced version of the innovative Fulton system pioneered in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker to airlift guards, vehicles, weapons, raw materials and kit to their base, where the staff will use these resources to develop the base to the user’s specifications.

An accompanying iDROID app will allow players to manage their Mother Base and its development, using staff to develop new weapons, carry out missions and implement defense systems. The latter becomes vital as the Mother Base is focal to the multiplayer online elements of the game’s campaign, where players can raid each others’ Mother Bases to wreak havoc and steal essential items.

Additionally, Metal Gear Online – the game’s dedicated competitive multiplayer mode – will go live at the launch of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The online element represents the third iteration of the popular multiplayer game, newly redesigned with the familiar gameplay and aesthetic styling of its companion single-player campaign. Metal Gear Online features a “class system” that more uniquely defines the strengths and abilities of player characters on the battlefield. Key characters from the series including Venom Snake and Ocelot will also make appearances in the anticipated multiplayer feature.

  1. ah hell, Konami deliberately holding back PC release in order to cash in as much as they can with the console versions, shameful tactics especially from them, i thought that PC sales increase meant something.

    1. And how do you know this? Maybe the pc version requires more time?

Quit making things up with zero proof.

      1. if there was a reason for extra time, im pretty sure that the gap between the console release and pc would be significantly wider and they would give a reason for its delay, lets face it, the game is months away and they still delayed the PC version in advance, kojima said it himself, the game is done, its in polishing bug fixing stage.

yeah, delayed+ full 60$ price, yeah.its almost like they are trying to alienate PC gamers already.

        1. 2 weeks is alienating? wow, you faggots are on fire man. such cry babies. alienating an entire fanbase because what? 2 weeks? come on man, seiroulsly. stop being so retarded.

      2. Zero proof? Dude corporations have been doing it for years. Name one instance of a multiplatform release (including PC) were the console versions were delayed.

        1. I liked how alien isolation couldnt possibly come out on the same day then people raged and they released it.

    2. As a long time PC gamer facing numerous games delayed or even cancelled I don’t mind the wait and I don’t let it bother me much. In fact it’s much more rewarding to wait it out and enjoy at my own pace.

It’s a given that they’ll try to milk out the consoles as much as they want but that will not affect the PC sales later on or our decision to buy the PC version.

        1. That is not even a challenge!

I’m a PC gamer so why do I want to visit sites that review the console versions(that will have spoilers)? It’s not that I deliberately avoided spoilers but I’ll wait for the PC reviews because it’s much more relevant to my preferred platform. A console game review won’t tell me whether the PC version released 2-3 weeks later will be optimized or not.

For example: GTAV have been on 2 generations of consoles and have yet to arrive on PC but I still don’t know much about the singleplayer story.

        2. lmao its just two weeks man, i mean seriously. you should be thankful its coming to the pc, if not, go back to consoles. 2 weeks is nothing, in fact, time to iron out some issues and give us an updated pc version that will run at 60fps justl ike ground zeroes does. i rather support 2 weeks than 1 year like shit rockstar and their bulls**t practices and excuses.

      1. I don’t mind the delay since it’s 2 weeks only but i don’t see any reason to feel rewarded because in this case we don’t have a choice but to wait.

i hope you are right about the sales but logically they should account the delay when they are checking PC numbers and expect lower numbers thanks to the delay. which they won’t probably.

        1. I guess it depends on personal expectations. Forced to wait for something is bad enough on it’s own but I don’t let it get to me anymore.

    3. I think they will take more time to finish it and polish it, still it is a long way off we will see how it goes.

  2. hey it’s better than 6 months or in some cases 2years. after GZ and it’s optimization 100% buy for me.

    1. It’ll probably be a longer for me due to the retail copy but oh well not such a biggie..although don’t get the 2 week delay, is it a tactic to sell more or what I don’t know

      1. kodoom hame ? 😀 i only buy good and cheap games, MGS GZ,witcher3,DA I, Wolf,Sunless Sea,Homeworld and some other games. go to key98 ir or originalkey net, you will find really cheap games there. mgz gz is around 48,000t there, pre ordered witcher 3 around 58,000t, gtav russian version for 120,000t which is still expensive but it’s less than 230,000t english.
bewarned, most of them are gifts, so you can’t get a refund or trade with friends

  3. Good. I will just avoid internet for 2 weeks and then i will play in the real version of the game.
