Mafia Definitive Edition will be using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech

2K Games and Hangar 13 have updated the official Steam store page for Mafia Definitive Edition, revealing that the game will be using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. Furthermore, the game will allow 5 activations per 24 hours machine activation limit.

Mafia Definitive Edition will be using the Mafia 3 Engine, and will release on September 25th. The game will expand its story to give insights into characters we only got to glimpse in the original game. Furthermore, the game will feature a larger Lost Heaven to explore, motorcycles as a new vehicle type, collectibles to seek out and more.

2K Games has provided us with a review code, so we’ll hopefully have a day-1 PC Performance Analysis. That is of course if we don’t encounter any issues with the game’s limited number of activations.

Lastly, you can find the official PC system requirements for Mafia Definitive Edition here. Hangar 13 recommends using an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 or AMD Radeon RX 5700. The game will also require 50GB of free hard-disk space.

Stay tuned for more!

      1. It always matters. Even if there’s 0% effect on fps (which is never the case), there’s a host of other problems to go along (modding problems being my favorite). Meanwhile, pirates are not affected in any way.

          1. no because pirated denuvo games not cracked by baldman who removed denuvo, still have denuvo emulated.

    1. It doesn’t stop crackers.
      It hurts consumers.
It makes the pirate’s experience better than the actual paying customer’s experience, which should never be the case.
It negatively impacts loading times and frametimes, both of which are heavily documented.
It doesn’t save game devs any money. In fact it costs them far more.

      It’s garbage.

      1. It more than does, rare exception is when Bethesda or Capcom leak denuvoless libs. None of the new titles are getting the protection broken.

Maybe in 10 years time. But since denuvo was acquired by irdeto (founded 1969) the the possibility of a server meltdown are 0. You can and will be able to access your games at any time, unless you’re a dumb person who decided to update their OS before leaving for a 2 hour plane trip.

It doesn’t. Denuvo cracks can often have performance issues due to the DRM having hardware based checks which the crackers have to bruteforce. In situations like that the pirate’s framerate can drop to single digits. Let’s not even mention the online features that consumers can enjoy.

+10 – +20second first startup times, oh pecker! This has been fixed in the most recent denuvo versions (starting from Resident Evil 3), where the games launch instantly.

There have been many examples around my friends circle that bought a denuvo protected title because it wasn’t cracked, where as they could have just pirated it if it had been cracked.

        It works.

        1. South Park 2, Injustice 2, Borderlands 3, NFS Heat. All 4 have issues with some UI elements which may include: chat, hero swapping, hero selection, team selection + overall periodic stutter which I did not notice in the legally bought versions with the same build number.

  1. You know how many games Denuvo has managed to get me to buy? 0.

I highly doubt this game will be the one to break me, as no game has even remotely tempted me to buy it while infected with this garbage. I’m sure I’m not alone. Moving on……….

    1. More than that, I instantly stop buying all future releases from publishers/devs that use it. Plenty of other games worth buying.

        1. So you’re glad you don’t like brilliant 2002 and 2010 games because awful 2020 “sequel” uses DRM. Great retarded logic.

  2. The argument that you ‘own physical games‘ is such a joke. Once that DRM server that the game contacts shuts down, your game won’t install anymore, it is happening to more and more games.

    1. Er…. physical games for PC, sure, as they don’t contain everything required for the game to run. I’ve never paid more than $15 USD for any game on Steam, for this very reason. I don’t pay full price to “rent”.

      1. As long as the game itself requires a server to authenticate or function in some way, the medium and the platform are irrelevant at that point.

Consoles are more vulnerable because they lack the workarounds possible on PC

    2. Luckily for you, Denuvo has more than 6 authentication and verification servers. So if one goes down, another will do the same task to help a lovely consumer verify ownership of their game.

And if you still feel concerned about not being able to play your games in X years time, I’d love to remind that Denuvo was acquired by Irdeto, the world leader in digital platform security which has been going strong since 1969.

      1. Disc version of Crysis, Spore, Tron: Evolution, Mirror’s Edge, 3SwitcheD etc. Basically all games that relied on SafeDisc or SecuROM DRM.

  3. That’s a bummer. I remember reading that Final Fantasy XV’s performance was better was once Denuvo was removed.

With that said, a bunch of recent releases with Denuvo, e.g. Death Stranding, have run great despite the DRM.

  4. I’m so glad Diaz is around to share his great knowledge with us. Will he ever stop being an apologist for bad decisions?

  5. In the Comments… People acting high and mighty saying they won’t buy the game because it has Denuvo…. Altho if you bought the game it will just run and work fine. Bunch of pansy’s crying for the hell of it. Well you not purchasing it isn’t going to change things. Might as well find a new hobby because more and more games are going to be using it going forward. I guess invest in a soft silk pillow you can bite and hate f### your sad existence into LOL

    1. But inTerNeT requirements!!!1!1 How will I activate a game online (straight after downloading it btw!!)?! Denuvo bad!!!

      1. Good luck trying to launch a Denuvo protected game offline (even after activated it)…you are reaching for excuses now…or you are just another contrarian?

        1. And just how often does your internet go out? I am sure it will be fine the 2 weeks you play the game. And if it doesn’t work… Boo hoo… go for a walk. Jesus christ.

      2. People will use any excuse to complain. Honestly most games people will play for a week or two and move onto the next. I am sure the game will work fine in those few days you play it. Every so often a single person might run into a problem and everybody panic’s and use’s it as an excuse why it’s so bad for the consumer and how piracy is better. LOL give me a break. Gaming is a buisness. People seem to think these games are made just to please them.

        1. The casual gamer says to others to quit the hobby after not supporting bad practices just from principle alone….LOL:

    2. Because if Denuvo ever goes out of business then the games that use it will not run. Maybe the Developer will remove Denuvo from the game at that time. Maybe not.

Also Denuvo is eating up system resources. It’s a parasite.

Also you can’t go to offline mode with Denuvo like you can with Steams’s DRM so if you have a spotty internet connection then that will interfere with you playing the game that you paid for when you want to play it.

  6. Exactly how long are you going to stay upset about being turned down to write articles here? It’s becoming pathological at this point.

  7. That greek ret4rd,have a job, family, and his own house. What about you? I can safely bet you’re at your 30-40s, still living with your mom & dad, and using their money. Confirmed.
