Latest version of RPCS3 brings major graphical fixes for God of War 3, Ascension, inFamous 2 & more

The RPCS3 team has released a brand new version of the best Playstation 3 emulator that is currently available for PC, RPCS 3. This latest version packs major graphical fixes for God of War 3, God of War Ascension, inFamous 2 and more.

As the RPCS3 team noted:

“A new Precise ZCULL setting has been added to RPCS3 (on by default) which fixes some culling issues (broken skybox in Dante’s Inferno, Sun shining through objects in Demon’s Souls and some lights in Killzone 2 & 3 are no-longer visible through objects.

Precise ZCULL also fixes games that relied on accurate area distance tracking to calculate values for bloom, blur and other post-processing effects which resulted in issues like The Darkness being far too bright, or One Piece: Pirate Warriors having broken Blur.

kd-11 also improved RPCS3’s Fragment Decompiler by implementing a previously unknown special mode used for shader interpolation. This fixed missing/broken effects in God of War 3/Ascension. It also fixed the headlights in MotorStorm Apocalypse and some brightness issues in Call of Juarez Gunslinger.”

Have fun!

  1. Hoping it gets better for RDR1. I get almost the same perf fps on both the major emulators in that game, playable but laggy 25fps avg. Maybe by the time they get it to 60 for non x80/x90 gpus RS will just put it into rdr2 as a huge dlc. Not holding my breath on any of that though.

        1. Its more gpu-heavy…not GPU bound! These emulators require a decent CPU, and the faster the CPU, the better the performance in most games.
And I can tell you from first hand experience bcoz I am using teh exact same GPU. I only upgraded my CPU/Mobo/RAM, and my fps jumped ~65%!

    1. As the other person said if you want to play RDR1 then use Xenia, I have completed this game last year using Xenia on my GTX1080. Though, the frame rate will be lower than 30 fps reaching even below sometimes. But, after a while you get accustomed obviously. But yes the game can be finished on Xenia.

      1. Why would you play such a good game using emulators,if the performance is bad or if the graphics are bugged ? Borrow a PS3/360 from a friend! Or if that’s not an option, wait until the bugs are cleared out

        1. ps3/360 is outdated obscure garbage, its much better to emulate and have 25fps but in 3-4k resolution then play on x36-/ps3 in 420-720p on 4k tv screen, it just looks terrible.

    1. There is a very big difference between 9900K and 10 and 11.
The 9900K is great, but it got replaced by the i7 10700K , not the i9 10.
That level of ipc and delivery will continue to go down in tiers as time passes, i would be surprised if the 12th gen doesnt match it with their i5 line.

IPC is much more important than corecount for RPCS3 , an i5 10600K will still do MUCH better than a Ryzen 7 1800X.

AVX512 doesnt change performance in RPCS3 almost at all.

Where are you getting your numbers from?, it almost seems as if you’re going off your personal gut feelings.

      1. Intel is faster due to TSX though correct? On the new Intel’s they aren’t even including TSX on some CPU’s due to security threats. Wonder if ADL will even have it.

TSX is like a 40 percent bump in performance when it can be leveraged for something.

Sony should honestly just put most of these games on PC. They will make zero money on something like Uncharted 1-3 on emulation due to piracy or a used game sale. They could easily translate them to PC due to the PS4 port.

They could even sell the games again on PS5 with some better AO, AA. Sony really doesn’t really make a lot of money on hardware. They aren’t like Nintendo, so I will never understand why they don’t put something on PC eventually, after the initial sales/hype dies down.

      2. I must ask, what apps are you exactly talking about? Certainly, none of what you said applies to games and emulation.

Ram speed? And what do you mean “Also I never said cores are important” ????

You literally said “The extra physical cores and threads on high core counts is very useful for this”.

AMD has been good since Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000), it doesn’t need to be better than intel to be good, though the 3700X was the best performer in CSGO for a very long time.

Intel does not benefit from High Speed Ram as much as AMD.
And on RPCS3 resolution doesn’t change performance much, and when it does it is cpu bound, but rarely does this happen, that’s not how emulation works.

        A trashy R3 2200G without a gpu runs Demon’s Souls in RPCS3 at 30fps.

        Your numbers must be off.

And IN GAMES, the i7 10700K and i9 9900K are literally the same cpu, check “testing games” youtube channel (thats the name of the channel) , at stock the 10700K is slightly faster, OC will depend on your cooling and binning, 9900K may OC more in most cases, not always, and it’s always weaker stock vs. stock.

  2. Depends on what you mean by “run”. If you mean 60 fps, well, that still requires CPU grunt.

If instead “run” means rock solid, stable, smooth, perfect frametimed 30 fps, then R5 3600 / i7 8700K / i5 9600K is actually enough.
