Latest patch for Middle-earth: Shadow of War removes Market and micro-transactions

Warner Bros today released a free game improvement update for Middle-earth: Shadow of War, featuring a host of new enhancements and content to provide existing players and newcomers.

This robust update brings together a multitude of different elements, including a richer campaign experience, streamlined post-game Epilogue, new player skins and Legendary gear and the removal of the market, in addition to hundreds of other improvements.

Here are the key features of this latest update.

Removal of the Market: The market and microtransactions have been completely removed from Shadow of War. Orcs recruited through Online Vendettas and Ranked Conquests will now be stored in the Garrison, and in-game Mirian can now be used to train, upgrade and customize your personal Orc army.

Changes to the Shadow Wars: Renamed the Epilogue, the post-campaign has been vastly streamlined to include new narration from Shelob, the Witch-king and Dark Talion. Victory in the Epilogue rewards players with the Masks of the Nazgûl, unlocks powerful new abilities to raise the dead, curse enemies and summons more powerful monsters. And players also have the option to continue upgrading and defending their fortresses and army in Mordor after the final credits conclude.

More Ways to Customize & Build Your Character: The follower level cap has now been increased to 80 and the enemy Captain level cap has been increased to 85. Plus, players can level up faster with greater XP rewards for Nemesis Missions, defeating Captains and Online Conquests. New Prestige Skills are available and offer incremental upgrades to skills. Players can also spend Mirian to upgrade gear to current levels by completing the upgrade challenge, and these gear upgrades now allow players to re-roll abilities for the perfect combo.

Nemesis Improvements: There are more Legendary Orcs to encounter, more ways to get Training Orders (incl. Legendary Training Orders) and followers can now surprise players with the occasional gift. And if any followers are too keen to help out and have been stealing kills, there is now the option to turn off the Savior feature in the menu.

New Player Skins: Players can now take the fight to Sauron as Celebrimbor, reliving the first War for Mordor, or battle as Dark Eltariel and Baranor.

    1. and first one was better than this. this is more of the same but with less enjoyable and meaty combat.

    1. i’d say the’ve done a good job as a company. this is how you’re supposed to behave, maximum profit.

        1. they don’t care what edgy teens think (and definitely not what a muslim sand rat like you think). they’re here to make money and that’s it. they know you’ll buy their games even if they make you cry.

          1. You just called an Islamic person a ‘muslim sand rat’. What would you call racism?

          2. there’s no thing such as islamic person, they’re called muslims and muslim is not a race.

          3. loool.. that was ACTUALLY pathetic, so try a little harder next time man… Secondly you CLEARLY dont understand how voting with your wallet works but i dont expect you to understand it with you 3rd grade education *shrugs*

          4. you’re a sand neeger, you pirate games. it’s ironic to see a sand rat talk about voting and rights.

          5. loool… Once again… that was terrible… you’re REALLY not good at this lool… secondly i live in the UK sooooo…? *shrugs* kids like you who like talking spicy because of the veil of anonymity that the internet provides are real sad… maybe one day you’ll crawl out of your mum’s basement and go live in the real world ahahaha

  1. So they want to come across as doing the right thing now. Gamers were saying from the beginning that the loot boxes were messing up the enjoyment of the game. Now they admit it was a bad idea after making who knows how much from microtransactions and they will probably repeat it in the next game too.

    1. Fell into the hype and played the first one ,that was the one of the most monotonous AAA game I have ever played !!

    2. SoM was epic, maybe it wasnt for you, but calling it a bad game isnt fair cus it was absolutely amazing. SoW i never played because of the loot box crap, and unfortunately because of what they’ve done here and me skipping on SoW I’ll never get to play the 3rd part whenever it gets released.

      1. Buying it now would show support for removing the boxes and encourage them to not find a way to monetize a 3rd entry. I picked it up after the patch went live.

  2. I haven’t played it, but it sounds like they’ve finally released the game they should have released a year ago.

    1. world feels empty after TB’s death, i genuinely liked him. world has no justice for taking such a man. (no trolling)

  3. Ah, nice, right after they’ve made all their money. SoM was one of my absolute favorite games, but I stuck to my word and made sure these devs wont take my money when this game gets released. Useless devs/publishers

  4. This doesn’t change anything, the game is dead, they shoved those all into people’s a*s. they designed the game with MT in mind, now they just removed it, the design is still awful, endless grind for more boring stuff but without MT.

  5. Good guy WB doing the right thing.
I might buy this now …. on G2A.
    Screw you WB.
You just milked this cow dry and now that it’s dying, you wanna sell it to those that didn’t buy it before? There is a reason why we didn’t buy it that you seem to miss.

  6. middle eastern descent?in middle east there are arabs and jews (both semitic) then there are kurds, turks of turkey (which are in reality a mixture of persians, greeks and mongols) and azeris then caucasians (armenians, georgians (although not geographically) and original persians who originated from north of caspain sea and south russia (same as slavic people))
each of these races have their own sub races. as you can see it’s hard to insult this many races.
and i’m not polak lol nice try.
