Kickstarter’s Trust & Safety team has just suspended the Kickstarter campaign for Areal – the spiritual successor to the STALKER series. According to Kickstarter, this campaign has broken its rules and all pledges have been cancelled.
Kickstarter has listed three reasons behind this suspension:
-A related party posing as an independent, supportive party in project comments or elsewhere. Misrepresenting support by pledging to your own project.
-Misrepresenting or failing to disclose relevant facts about the project or its creator.
-Providing inaccurate or incomplete user information to Kickstarter or one of our partners.
It’s still uncertain what has caused Areal’s suspension. While it was suspicious that there were $24K pledged in its final day, we don’t know if Kickstarter found out enough evidence to back them up. On the other hand, West Games attitude and constant changes may were the things triggered Areal’s suspension.
All in all, Areal’s Kickstarter has been suspended and West Games has not commented yet on this topic!

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. I knew it!!
Well , at least that’s over .
Not really, they’re already taking pledges on their website. Which is worse, really. No accountability *at all*, no discussions, no public tracking of the money pledged, nothing.
i hope funders, get the precious money back.Better give them to a poor man instead of this.
They never lost their money. Kickstarter only takes pledge money once a project ends successfully.
Faith in Kickstarter restored.
“It’s still uncertain what has caused Areal’s suspension.”
A bunch of trolls from reddit and other places trolling the devs and spreading lies and disinfo while “video game journalists” just repeated what the trolls said to get easy views.
Yeaaaah right. Obviously no responsibility was West Games’. It’s not like they started with nothing but a trailer misrepresenting Stalker footage as Areal and then went downhill from there. Absolute best case scenario, they are not ready to do a Kickstarter. And if they can’t run a competent Kickstarter, why should anyone believe they can make this highly ambitious game?
go bash on the 1000 crappy indie games with no gameplay footage on kickstarter. no one talks about those, but some dumb trolls try starting some meem and you idiots fall for it, now we will never get a stalker-esque game
Good that its gone from Kickstarter but unfortunately this wont stop West Games.
