In case you did not know, NieR: Automata has been cracked. This third-person action title uses the latest version of the Denuvo anti-tamper tech, however crackers were able to crack it almost one month and a half after release. As you may also know, and since PlatinumGames has not addressed any of the game’s issues, Kaldaien’s FAR mod is a must-have for this title. However, there is a catch.
Kaldaien has made it possible so that his mod can detect whether someone is using an original or a pirated version of NieR: Automata. And if someone is using one, this mod prevents the user from launching and playing the game.
So, those using a pirated version of NieR: Automata with Kaldaien’s FAR mod will be welcomed with the License agreement (that they obviously can’t accept since they are using a pirated version) and another message tells them to buy the game in order to support the developers.
Now this is a really clever move. Yes, some will say that this mod acts like a malware for doing something like that, however this is a really clever way to prevent pirates (and reward those who paid for this title).

Modders can be really nasty. Many of them are great and doing great job, but there are some really nasty ones, just like from this description. Huge ego, unable to accept any criticism or even someone simply disagreeing on any matter, obsessed about laws and rules, control freak. Happens to all kinds of people but I noticed that this is especially common in modding community.

100% agreed. One of the most well known modders on the Nexus for the likes of Skyrim and Fallout 4 fits that description based on some of the actions and comments of his that I’ve observed. I won’t name him because I could do without the drama! Thankfully, he’s one of only a few rare exceptions because most modders aren’t like that in my experience.
There appears to be perhaps two main ‘types’ of problematic modders,
1. The precious and oversensitive types who spit the dummy no matter how constructive the user feedback is.
2. Egotists who seemingly get off on receiving unfettered praise and who let it go to their head whereby they eventually develop a superiority/god complex.

it’s not just this game, there’s a hating trend here on denuvo not just because it’s potentially damaging player experience, it’s only because they can’t pirate games anymore, they celebrate when a scene cracks these games and they claim they’re happy because scenes are hurting a company which again “potentially” harms player experience but you can easily tell why they hate denuvo if you’ve been around for a while.

1) A Mod is something which you get for free.. yes FREE.. you dont pay a single penny for it….and as such it is entirely up to you if you want that mod or not..irrespective of all things you cant and dont have any right to complain about something you are getting for free. And off-course a Mod can either improve/Modify your game as is stated on any mods download page. Its a Mod after all.
2. All that the modders do is release their files and work to the public…

The irony of a mod protecting a DRM. as far as i heard with Denuvo, exe related mods are hard to implement to say the least and FAR isn’t relying on exe i think but still, a mod nonetheless.
I am thankful for his contribution, but not a fan of the way he is handling it. i didn’t even bother using a mod btw. i just let the game run on windowed mode instead.

Nier is yet another game on my Steam wishlist, along with Bayonetta, Hitman, dozens of VR titles, which is at around 80 games total now. Just haven’t had the time to buy and play anything. Maybe around Xmas I’ll launch Steam and actually play something. lol

The timing is too fishy (as the game has been just cracked). Also, will someone show some real evidence to back up those claims (so far we haven’t seen any real evidence other than some false positives from specific anti-malware programs)? And let’s just say that it was a malware, would Durante (a guy that knows more than your average Joe) be using it and working with Kaldaien? If people knew about Kaldaien’s malware code (as they claim) in Tales of Berseria, why didn’t they bring this up the moment FAR got released?
