ININ Games has just announced a new R-Type game, R-Type Dimensions III. R-Type Dimensions III is coming to PC in May 2026, and you can find its debut gameplay trailer below.
R-Type Dimensions III aims to bring the intensity, precision, and creative enemy design of the arcade originals to a new generation. Every stage, boss, and projectile pattern has been rebuilt with high-end 3D graphics, enhanced animations, and richly detailed environments. The game promises to preserve the instantly recognizable atmosphere that defined R-Type’s identity.
R-Type Dimensions III will expand its gameplay modes. It will have a local op-op mode and an Advanced mode that will be accessible from the start. It will also come with a range of new features designed to deliver the most definitive modern edition of R-Type’s classic era.
What’s cool here is that the game will allow you to switch between the 3D and the classic 2D visuals. So, if you do not like the new 3D graphics, you will be able to play it with its classic R-Type 2D sprites.
Finally, the trailer has work-in-progress gameplay footage that does not represent the quality of the final product. So, the final version could look better or worse than it.
