It appears that id Software is working on a new VR game that is codenamed Project 2021A. As we can see, the Australian Classification has passed an R18+ rating for id Software’s new Virtual Reality game.
While we don’t know much about this VR project, the Australian Classification page states that the game will have high impact violence, and online interactivity.
And that is that. At this point, we can all start speculating. My guess is that this is a VR version of Doom Eternal. I mean, this is the only thing that makes sense right now. That, or we’re looking at a brand new VR franchise.

Probably a Doom fork into VR. Doesnt make sense to make a new franchise for the niche crowd owning a HMD.
Id software, one of the most disappointing gaming stories ever, did not manage to make a game better than quake 1 in 23 years. They were battling it out with Epic, look where epic is now, what ue4 and 3 did for gaming, what fortnite is… Epic rules gaming while true id is just a nostalgic memory. I used to be such a Carmack fan
John Carmack make some mistakes in past. This is why he was forced to sell ID Software to Bethesda 11 years ago. We all know than Bethesda is not a good place for engine focused studio.
But not all is lost. Recently Epic start partnership with Sony and said that new UE5 will be focused on Playstation 5. This will force MS to build own game engine using ID Tech 7 from acquired ID Software. MS need a good engine for PC and Xbox because they know that Epic boss hate MS
