Warner Bros has announced that Hogwarts Legacy, its upcoming Harry Potter game, now targets a 2022 release date. According to the publisher, its development team plans to create the best possible experience for fans of the Harry Potter franchise.
In Hogwarts Legacy, players will experience a new story set at Hogwarts in the 1800s. Your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart. Players will make allies, battle Dark wizards, and decide the fate of the wizarding world.
Warner Bros was previously planning to release this game in 2021. My guess is that the game has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the trailer alone you can see blacks and indians in a historical setting in europe. Yes its a historical setting it doesnt take place in current era. Also i bet you 100 bucks that the devs put a trans character there to stick it to JK Rowling.

Well to be fair, blacks and Indians have existed in Europe a long time ago in small numbers. But obviously they weren’t involved in society the way the game is portraying. Does it matter though? This game is dealing with witchcraft and wizardry, plus, including heavy elements of fantasy.
I feel like whenever a game or movie passes that threshold, the concept of realism is no longer valid. It’s nothing like what Kingdom Come: Deliverance was striving for. By the end of the day it should be up to the creators to make what they want without being pressured to force in certain things in order to make it more socially acceptable.

Clearly it matters to you for even trying to challenge it in the first place. All I’m saying is who cares? If it were a game that seemed more grounded to reality like Thief or Kingdom Come: Deliverance I would completely understand why people would take issues with it. But when it comes to games that contain talking hats and flying broomsticks it just seems silly to even bring up questions of why there appears to be POCs in this particular setting.

Fair enough. Never played Thief but I did watch a small amount of gameplay a long time ago so I kinda forgot or never noticed those fantasy elements. And I’m fully aware of Kingdom Come: Deliverance’s backlash. Chances are it wouldn’t have been as controversial if the devs didn’t bother engaging with those trolls.

We still get innovation today but more often than not, the mainstream devs are always delivering lackluster titles with divisive messages. The Bioshock and Witcher franchises are fine examples of how you can make something containing political and societal themes without having to make such a fuss with consumers.

What can i say, things change. Now they need to be politically aware 24/7 and try not to anger the leviathan. Was things back then better? Arguably for some, but not for political grifters and clickbait sensationalist outlets, new markets emerge and all this stuff needs to be accounted for.
