MindsEye feature-3

Here’s what the first patch for MindsEye will address, fix & improve

IO Interactive has just released MindsEye, and as I’ve reported, the game currently has major optimization issues. Thankfully, the devs are aware of them and will try to fix them. At the end of this week, we’ll get the first patch, so let’s see what it will address, fix, and improve.

This first update for MindsEye will bring CPU and GPU performance improvements, along with memory optimizations. As such, the game should run better on your PC. I’ll definitely check it out and report on these improvements.

Right now, at 4K with DLSS Quality, the game runs with a minimum of 53FPS on an NVIDIA RTX 5090. So, if we get a 5-10FPS increase, I’ll be quite happy as it will place it alongside all the other UE5 games that have come out. Let’s not forget that MindsEye uses Lumen. So, don’t expect to run it at Native 4K with 60FPS, even on the latest and greatest GPUs.

As I’ve also reported, there are some major stuttering issues. So, hopefully, these CPU improvements will somehow reduce the stutters. It’s also worth noting that the devs plan to upgrade the game’s UE5 version to 5.6. UE5.6 features major improvements regarding asset streaming. So, it will be interesting to see whether this upgrade will do anything to further reduce the traversal stutters.

The hotfix will also add an option to enable and disable Depth of Field. This will please a lot of players who were desperately trying to find a way to disable DoF via its Engine.INI file. So, better late than never.

What’s really funny is that a lot of people seem to want to see this game fail. And, I don’t get it. Yes, it had a rocky launch. But this isn’t The Day Before. For the time being, the devs want to improve it and fix it. This isn’t a scam. So, let’s at least give the devs a chance. Because, the same thing happened with The Callisto Protocol. And now, three years later, a lot of gamers are like “Perhaps I judged The Callisto Protocol harsh, it’s actually good”.

Anyway, I’ll be sure to test this patch when it comes out and report my findings. Below, you can find the key features of it. So, stay tuned for more!

MindsEye June Hotfix Key Features

  • Initial CPU and GPU performance improvements, along with memory optimizations.
  • Reduced difficulty for the CPR mini-game.
  • A new setting to disable or modify Depth of Field.
  • A fix for an issue with missing controls for the MineHunter and Run Dungeon mini-games.
  • Pop-up warnings for PCs that have Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling disabled, and PCs with CPUs that have potential crash issues.

    1. what part? its like hyper realistic and detailed. I think the fidelity and detail in the cutscenes is one of the only saving graces of the game if there was anything to save about it.

        1. That’s my bad then. Did the actor do something? I know people didn’t think he was great in Mafia 3 but I can’t recall seeing him in the news or doing anything else bad.

          1. that’s fair, he does have an uncanny look to him at times. the level of detail is still crazy.

      1. Not so much the technology but the drive for photorealism did indeed gave rise to ugliness which is a form of realism itself.

  1. I find Dlss does not work that well even on quality 1440p there is alot of jaggies and shimering edges TSR works better.

  2. I had fun with the first couple hours last night. My main gripe is the anti-aliasing option doesn't seem to do anything so I had to turn on DLSS to get AA. Otherwise, works great at 1080p/3080ti/60FPS.

    1. I found TSR has better AA Dlss on my RTX 4070 With Dlss AA did not to do anything jas still jaggy and shimering edges.

  3. >And now, three years later, a lot of gamers are like “Perhaps I judged The Callisto Protocol harsh, it’s actually good”.

Yeah the ones saying that are the younger generation of normies that have been so beat down with the constant and unrelenting stream of trash that their standards are practically rock bottom now. I played the game to completion last year when it was given away for free on the Epic Games Store, and even then I felt ripped off because it was a waste of time. The only good things about that game are the visual fidelity and the level of gore. Everything else is mediocre and forgettable at best.

    1. I'd have to agree. The game was more frustrating than it was fun and it partly ruined a Halloween Horror game run I normally enjoy doing when I had to drop it for something else.

        1. You did but it was complimentary and similar to the sentiment mocked in the article I thought it couldn’t be that annoying as some of my friends who are really into horror games said it wasn’t terrible either. I was sorely mistaken but thankfully there were a few other games I did get to that were able to salvage the rest of the month like Evil Within 2, Village and the rest of the AW2 DLC. I almost got through Alien isolation but I think that’ll just be for this years October.

          1. Nah I’m kind of a pansy in that I try to play horror games or games in general I’m not too familiar with on the most normal adjacent difficulty. I recall most of my frustration was just the melee focus and getting grabbed so often that I kind of just got annoyed. I could just be bad but I wasn’t having fun and that’s what I normally let guide whether I continue a game or not.

          2. If i where to replay this game it would be the easiest setting, because only the presentation carries this game, the combat is a mess.

          3. That might be the best move if I go back. It’s still crazy how some games confuse damage sponges with difficulty in big 2025 but it really can just be the best ways to engage with some stuff. I finished my first run of Stalker 2 like last week and about half way through I cut the difficulty down because dumping all your ammo into a randomly spawned in mutant to get nothing back just does not feel like appropriate game design at all but I was already super invested in the story to give it up.

    2. Did you play on normal or hardcore difficulty? It's so funny how they made a super casual fighting system and at the same time it is nigh unplayable on hardcore. You can't revert the difficulty and trying to cheat using a trainer brick the save file lmao so i said fck it and uninstalled. If it wasn't for that i could have completed the game. I think there is a mode in the game that is instagib enemies, maybe i'll play on that mode next or not.

      1. I think I played it on normal. I'm not going to bother installing it again just to see how it is on hardcore. Once was enough.

        1. Lol good for you, you would drop the game 10x faster if you tried Hardcore. It’s basically bloated enemy HP that can one shot you.

      1. Congrats, you're exactly one of the slop-eaters I was talking about. And WTF does your PC have to do with the quality of the game? No amount of fps or graphics could save this bland time waster.

  4. i bought the game and use LossLess scaling which is a miracle in this game. But it makes me sad to use that because the game runs extreme bad on my RTX 5090.

"..It’s also worth noting that the devs plan to upgrade the game’s UE5 version to 5.6. UE5.6 "

where and when did they say that ?
