Bethesda and id Software have just released an FAQ for Doom: The Dark Ages, detailing all of its current bugs and issues. The game is now available to those who have pre-ordered it. So, if you are one of them, you should check out this FAQ.
As I said in my previous article, Doom: The Dark Ages currently has a couple of issues on NVIDIA GPUs. For instance, if you are playing on an RTX 50 series GPU and enable G-Sync or V-Sync plus Multi Frame Generation through the NVIDIA App, you can crash the game. Also, if you Alt+Tab while launching the game, it may launch in the background and not be accessible. Oh, and if you experience persistent crashing when playing the game with the 576.40 drivers, you should try rebooting your PC.
On the AMD side, there is only one bug. The game can lock up when manually resizing the game window with FSR Frame Gen. To avoid it, you should not resize your game window when using it. Do also note that MSI Afterburner or RivaTuner overlays may introduce stability issues. So, be sure to also keep that in mind.
FOV changes will not carry over into Cinematics or interactive events, such as shield bashing through walls. As the devs said, this is by design. However, they are evaluating a possible change to make FOV changes global in a post-launch update. Some users may also find that the amount of Gold in their inventory doesn’t change after purchasing an upgrade. In rare cases, the Vagary in Ancestral Forge may disappear and block access to the collectible item placed at the wolf statue.
Regarding the NVIDIA issues, the green team will have to address them via a new driver. That’s what id Software claims. As for the other issues, the devs are looking into them. However, these issues won’t be fixed via a day-1 patch.
As for Path Tracing, there is still no word on when exactly we’ll get it. Bethesda claims that they will make it available soon.
Finally, we’ve already published our PC Performance Analysis for this title. So, make sure to read it.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
Doom: The Dark Ages Known Issues FAQ
KNOWN ISSUES
PC
- Issue: If you are playing on an RTX 50 series GPU and enable G-Sync (supported display required) or V-Sync plus Multi Frame Generation through NVIDIA Control Panel you can crash the game.
- Resolution: Until a driver fix is available, the workaround for this issue is to either disable one of these options in the NVIDIA control panel or if you want both enabled, set them in-game.
- Issue: If you are playing on an RTX 40 or 50 series GPU and enable Multi Frame Generation or FrameGen, V-Sync still shows as enabled.
- Resolution: This is a minor cosmetic issue – the game disables V-Sync under the hood in these cases.
- Issue: Users with NVIDIA GPUs may find that Alt-Tabbing while launching the game can cause the game to launch in the background and not be accessible.
- Resolution: This is a known driver issue. Until a fix is available in a driver update, to avert this issue, avoid Alt-Tabbing during game launch. If encountered, it can be resolved by restarting your PC.
- Issue: Users with NVIDIA 50 series GPUs may experience TDRs or system hangs when starting gameplay recording using Shadowplay with MultiFrameGen set to 3x or 4x.
- Resolution: To avoid this issue, either do not use the noted MFG settings or record gameplay with a different application.
- Issue: If capturing with OBS, game visuals may freeze when Alt-tabbing from Fullscreen
- Resolution: Until there is an update from OBS, the workaround for the issue is to capture in Windowed or Borderless mode.
- Issue: The game can lock up when manually resizing the game window with FSR FrameGen enabled.
- Resolution: To avoid this issue, do not manually resize the game window with FSR FrameGen enabled.
- Issue: Users who unplug a 2nd monitor during gameplay may notice that the game has frozen.
- Resolution: To avoid this issue, do not unplug any monitors while playing the game.
- Issue: Players running the game with the MSI Afterburner or RivaTuner overlays enabled may experience stability issues.
- Resolution: To avoid this issue, do not run the game with either application running in the background.
- Issue: In rare cases, players running DOOM: The Dark Ages on a supported PC spec at appropriate settings, who have the latest GPU drivers installed and also have an intel CPU model number that starts with the number 13 or 14 can run into persistent crashing.
- Resolution: In such cases, you may have a corrupted CPU. Please contact intel Customer Support at https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/contact.html
All Platforms/General Gameplay
- Issue: FOV changes do not carry over into Cinematics or interactive events, such as shield bashing through walls.
- Resolution: This is by design but we are evaluating a possible change to make FOV changes global in a post-launch update.
- Issue: Changes on the FOV slider after Cinematics or Wall Shield Bashes may not affect display.
- Resolution: This is a temporary issue that will reset when changing levels, loading checkpoints, or returning to the Main Menu.
- Issue: In rare cases, the Vagary in Ancestral Forge may disappear and block access to the collectible item placed at the wolf statue.
- Resolution: If you encounter this issue, the workaround is to reload the checkpoint.
- Issue: The “Barrel Stuffer” and “Super Barrel Stuffer” Mastery challenges may not appear to increment when expected.
- Resolution: Per the challenge descriptions, every pellet must hit demons, and this can be difficult if the demon is too small or dies before all pellets hit. Try on Heavy and Super-Heavy Demons for more consistent progress.
- Issue: You may maneuver the Slayer onto geometry or objects outside of intended, navigable space, and then become stuck.
- Resolution: If this occurs, and the object is not destructible, the workaround is to reload the checkpoint.
- Issue: In Siege – Part 1, the combat encounter in front of a cave to one of the Hell Portals in the swamp side of the map may not spawn under very specific conditions, blocking the player from continuing.
- Resolution: The current work around is to Reload the Checkpoint, which resolves the issue. Rare reports where this has occurred involve saving this Hell Portal for last, so approaching this encounter earlier may also avoid the issue.
- Issue: If you defeat a demon with a Melee attack while the Shield Saw is still embedded, the Shield may appear invisible in the hands for some time.
- Resolution: The Shield Saw will reappear after multiple uses.
- Issue: Some users may find that an additional button press is required to input actions when first opening the Dossier.
- Resolution: We are investigating a fix for a future patch. In the meantime, if you experience this issue, press your first input twice as a workaround.
- Issue: Some users may find that the amount of Gold in their inventory doesn’t change after purchasing an upgrade.
- Resolution: We are investigating a fix for a future patch. In the meantime, please be aware that this issue is purely cosmetic and that the Gold in your inventory will update after backing out of the Sentinel Shrine UI.
- Issue: In some cases, users may experience icons not appearing correctly after button actions have been remapped.
- Resolution: Remapped buttons will appear correctly after backing out of and re-entering the Inputs menu.
ASUS ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go
- Issue: Users attempting to run the game on the ASUA ROG Ally or Lenovo Legion GO will experience poor performance and stability issues.
- Resolution: There are known driver issues on both devices which we are working with manufacturers to resolve.

Is this a new problem for Intel CPUs?
btw the link given goes to a Steam redirect which goes to a dead page.
About a year or two ago, it was discovered that because of a update to mobos pushed out by Intel some 13th and 14th gen CPUs degraded much more rapidly than they should have. Intel did offer support to affected users for the issue if people noticed the degradation. It seems that developers are now chucking some of the issues that may come up to that incident.
You're telling it badly, who knows why…
The problem was latent for a long time, Intel intervened when it could no longer deny it.
The problem was theoretically solved after 4 updates, the last of which came out a little while ago, and since Intel said that the first one would be the good one, I'm not sure that this one is.
It wasn't an update that created the problem, this was there from the beginning, and many users had to insist a lot for the warranty, always after the oxen had already left the pen…
Last "detail": Updates do not cure the processor, if it has suffered damage they will be of no use, as is normal.
I wonder how long it'll take to fix some of these issues. I'd want to imagine that if the game still had this many problems maybe they could have let Remastered Oblivion come out and now instead of the same week as Expedition 33 and give TDA more time to cook. Thankfully it seems only one of these issues may apply to me when I give it a try at the end of the week. Hopefully that clipping issue they bring up won't be too widespread either.
For the reason that the admin of this site is working, no uncertainty very quickly it will be renowned, due to its quality contents.
Hopefully they fix up these issues soon
So, how do you all feel about the parrying in the game?
Parrying in a fps game, lol
I don't see an issue with that. The game looks great imo.
I just find it funny the popular checkbox approach to modern gaming.
I haven't played it yet, but from what I've seen so far, I'm not too happy about it. It should've been just another nice-to-have tool in your toolbelt instead of being almost necessary. Parryslop is not DOOM-like at all.
Here's how I would've re-designed some of the gameplay elements:
– Make most attacks and projectiles parry-able (which would result in getting rid of the stupid green colouring on parry-able attacks) but make the window extremely tight so that only those who wish to waste hundreds of hours to turn the game into parryslop mastery can do so. Also, make the angle of the reflected projectile line up with the angle Doom guy is positioned in. Parrying a projectile that came from your side should not result in that projectile going back in the exact same direction it came from. It just looks silly and adds more to the sloppiness of the parryslop
– Revise the projectiles of enemies such that it doesn't look like an over-the-top bullet-hell type of game by reducing the number of projectiles being shot at once while increasing the speed, that way it'd look more "natural" and less arcade game-like. Just keep the projectile speeds reasonable enough such that those who are paying attention can still move away from attacks, making it a movement shooter once again
– Make resources in the levels more plentiful so that the game doesn't have an annoying resource management aspect like Eternal did
– For environmental puzzles, don't make it all "use shield here" like how it was with the axe in nu-God of War. Have more variety, e.g. lob a grenade here, punch this, shield charge to there, jump on this pad from high up, etc
– Increase the range of several guns. I understand that the developers want you to get up close and personal but we should have the option to shoot from mid range or farther. They can offset it by having distance-based damage fall-off so that while you can shoot from far, you'll save ammo and get the job done quicker the closer you get
I know these are easier said than done, but these people make games for a living so they'd have been able to do these if they wanted do
The whole Simon says gameplay blows. Hugo Martin can be allowed only to design some visual stuff. Other than that keep him away.
80 euros.
LMAO.
I also worth mention that you can't mix languages.
Let's say you want o play in English VO and German Text, you can't do that.
That's really bad, move by them, the same crap was in Doom 2016, they "fixed" that in some last patches.
Considering Nvidia hasn't released a driver for the game yet I'm not shocked at the issues as many others probably are not either 😂
They did release it on Monday.
This is the only true doom game since 2004.
it's actually newer than doom 2016/eternal/dark ages. it's still in development and by the time it's finished the dark ages will be old outdated sh*t lol.

Another plague: requiring gaytracing cards.
", if you are playing on an RTX 50 series GPU and enable G-Sync or V-Sync plus Multi Frame Generation through the NVIDIA App, you can crash the game"
the 5000 series are basically amd 5000 series at this point. John test the game on 6 core cpus, people say it works fine.
this worst Doom ever created
Game Ready Drivers… right?
RTX 50 series…what a POS!

Constant freezing for me; going to refund.
Not one crash after 3 hours on a 4090. I simply didn't update my drivers after reading the issues. I'm on driver 572.xx, can't recall exact one, but you don't need new drivers every time a game comes out.
