Great news for all PC Halo fans as the Firefight flight/beta phase for Halo: Reach is a go. 343 Industries has just sent 10K invites to those that have registered for the flighting program, so be sure to check out your inboxes.
Once, and if you’ve received an invitation, you will be able to download the game right away. In other words, the PC beta phase is a go.
In case you weren’t aware of, Firefight is a solo or co-op campaign mode where up to four players can fight against waves of Covenant attackers. This mode allows players to battle in multiple environments based on campaign maps. Moreover, the game allows players to fight on foot or in vehicles, and against increasingly difficult waves of Covenant attackers.
Halo: Reach’s Firefight has a large number of customization options and new features. For example, Matchmaking support is available, as well as many new game modes such as Generator Defense and the Versus Mode.
343 Industries plans to launch a third beta/flight after Firefight that will focus on PVP matchmaking.
Last but not least, Halo Reach will be using an industry-leading anti-cheat solution. This anti-cheat will be used to protect matchmade games played on dedicated servers, and that it will also allow mods to be used.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

I signed up for flight a while ago and haven’t gotten anything.
me too , didnt get anything from them only the confirmation link đ
I got in played for about 25 min and that was it. Got 2 e-mails from them
They sent today 10K invites, no luck here.
Fascinating.
Really? Flight. Is that MS trying to be cool with a new word for beta? It’s a f**king beta, so just call it what it is, and stop with the unneeded word play ffs.
Jesus Christ, it’s a freaking miracle! I got the email, the download size is 12GB! Will post if it’s cool or not later. Personally those leaked videos on the NET are really hard to judge from.
I also have an Xbox One X so it will be nice to do a comparison, please be good. Man looks like they figured out that major bug and issue they where having. Hype meter is rising…
That’s awesome man! Keep us updated.
K, so here are some of my impressions:
– Game looks awesome, sort of like a new game those videos on the NET make it look really dated. It’s better than the XB1 MC stuff easily. In the options there is a node for visuals and you can select : Enhanced Mode . This looks really nice models seem juiced up and the textures are really nice and the lighting. Doesn’t feel dated at all. Shadows seem juiced up too and really it all feels like a proper legit remaster.
– Plays really nice and smooth no issues what so ever, actually shocked it played so well, I thought it feel like junk/dated(not sure why)
– FOV can go to 120, there is a separate slider for: on foot and vehicle
– There is a anti cheat system and you also need a MS account to play MP. I will try to play in offline mode and with out internet and see if both options work. Of course for the MP you will need internet, will try that in a bit
– You can re bind all your keys for M & KB. I tried my XB1 controller as well right now re mapping is greyed out and you can’t invert it etc but it works. So it’s currently setup for M & KB but the controller is supported.
– Menus and everything loaded mega fast and was instant, note I am on a NVMe M.2 drive though(Evo 970 Plus). Still usually it seems like MS AAA games take for ever to load so this is nice.
[ some issues ]
– 5760×1080 failed, when I clicked the option to start the match it just blew up with a error mini window. I had to play at 1080p, they say multi screen and ultra wide is supported so this was really weird it did not work already(I mean sh|t, even my game supports both of those configs and it’s indie, HD 2D game LOL). The menus and game are fine it’s only when you press play it blows up. Sort of don’t understand why this was not tested internally as a stage one smoke test?
So yeah I am really happy/impressed, I got to be honest some of those videos posted on YouTube made the game look like a potato. I really can’t wait to play it and am super pumped!
Going to log that multi screen or rather large resolution bug and hope they fix it before launch.
[ update ]
– the anti cheat they are using is : Easy Anti-Cheat
– The game seems to force you to have an Xbox Live account to play not sure if this is just for the testing purpose.
– Steam in offline mode works and the game just launches but asks for a Xbox Live account.
– can’t play a solo match, you are forced to do Match making with a 4 Man squad MP
[ update 2 ]
– looks like the game will not be always online 4 SP. If you have your internet on and Steam in offline mode and launch the game once then close it you will be fine. After that un plug your internet or disable you network adapter. Then launch the game, it will take a bit longer to load(main splash screen) as I am sure it is checking if it can connection to the server and it will in fact proceed and go into the next menu tiers(I also see my online MS profile auto logged in/offline mode). If you pick the MP mode it tells you can not play that right now. I am guessing that the campaign will 100% work this way and basically all you need to do is be online once and then non longer need to for the SP portion. This also works with Horizon 4 and State of Decay 2, I tried the same method. So their is hope, will see.
I hear you đ . My only thoughts are with a forced MS account and
Easy Anti-Cheatat combo there is a potential that MP won’t have any
cheating(maybe…). They have said that is a priority so maybe that is
why they did all the DRM, who knows.
Yeah I just saw the Steam page too looks like it’s a done deal and it’s a requirement. I think if you want to play MS games on PC this is what you have to put up with and it’s not going to change any time soon and is what it is. As for MS doing GaaS I really hope not for if they ever do that with Infinite then I am out.
What does it say about this industry, when a ~10 year old game’s re-release, is garnering more hype than most forthcoming new games? Huh…..
I mean Halo is a pretty massive brand. Nobody really cares that’s it’s old. This is one of the most iconic shooter franchises around.
Well I think if Borderlands 3 was also coming out on Steam then the majority would not really care as much about Halo: The Master Chief Collection PC + Reach.
Not going take anything away from Halo for we all know the nostalgia power it has is massive and it’s legit quality but I get what your saying.
Personally I am looking forward to Borderlands 3 a 100x more than MC Reach. BL3 should of never been exclusive to EGS, I am not sure what they where thinking. If I had a choice to play BL3 or MC – Reach I wouldn’t even hesitate and go for BL3. Having said that I will be getting both and am ready for Sep + BL3!
Like I said, NFS2019 may not be the best game, however it is the best game this year, gamng is dying, such is common sense .
Just shows that sigma is good at art as advertised….
Ive played 1 game already, its freaking awesome, I cant wait, going to buy this day 1 on steam.
