Half Life 3 & Left 4 Dead 3 Confirmed By Counter-Strike Co-Creator

Counter-Strike’s co-creator ‘Minh “Gooseman” Le’ has spilled the beans and confirmed both Half Life 3 and Left 4 Dead 3. In a recent video interview, Gooseman revealed that Valve is currently working on both of the aforementioned titles. And while Gooseman was a bit hesitant about Half Life 3, he mistakenly thought that Valve had already confirmed Left 4 Dead 3 and shared his thoughts about it.

Regarding Half Life 3, Gooseman had this to say:

I think it’s kinda public knowledge, that people know that it is being worked on. And so if I were to say that yeah, I’ve seen some images, like some concept art of it, that wouldn’t be big news to be honest. But yeah, I mean like I guess I could say that I did see something that looked kinda like in the Half-Life universe. And I mean it wouldn’t surprise anyone if I said they’re doing it, they’re working on it, yeah. So to go on a limb I’d say I did see some concept art for Half-Life 3.

But what about Left 4 Dead 3? As said, Gooseman thought that Valve had already announced it and revealed that he has already seen an early build of it running. Not only that, but Gooseman said that Left 4 Dead 3 looked great.

“You know, the one thing I’m really excited about is Left 4 Dead, the new Left 4 Dead. I saw it, it looks great. I was really excited when I saw that, I was like “wow, this looks great”. Cos I really enjoyed Left 4 Dead, it was just one of those games that really just changed the industry. I think at the time there wasn’t many good co-op games, so yeah, this is a great co-op game.”

So there you have it everyone. Left 4 Dead 3 is coming and will most probably be announced soon. Half Life 3, on the other hand, may take forever to get announced.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. this guy is a hack, go play tactical intervention hiss new game which is a counter strike ripoff with a pay to win cashshop and about as much polish as a turd. he was obviously the less contributing and least talented of his “co creator” title.

  2. Sounds a lot like he’s just trying to get some attention with vague statements. That he saw some concept art doesn’t confirm or deny anything.

  3. He’s right. This isn’t really a big news since Source 2 is officially confirmed by Gabe Newell. Of course HL3 is in development. Question is: when?

      1. It’s not about date. Half-Life 2 was released with Steam. Half-Life 3 was supposed to be released with Valve’s VR device, but they cancelled it, and started to investing in Oculus Rift. Now Oculus is bought by Facebook.

I don’t know what they will do now, but it’s clear to me, that Valve doesn’t want to make HL3 just for the sake of continuation. It must be something more.

    1. is source 2 confirmed? Like CONFIRMED as “its gonna power our future games” are they really making a new engine?

      1. Gabe confirmed it in 2012. There even was a screenshot in some kind of closed presentation recently.

Source 2 above and original L4D2 below.

  4. Until I see some sort of debut trailer with words like “Coming [insert year]” , I’m not getting hyped .
Waiting for “Not True” statement from Valve .

  5. Def sounds fishy, tho if he wants to get one over on his old colleagues, spoiling what would have been a huge E3 moment is about as dooshy a way to do it.

  6. there has been concept art for the next half life (episode 3 or HL3 call it what you want) since 2007, its easy to find

  7. Seems to me valve is way ahead of this and they are done with making games and they make more money on steam. Every game they released lately was third party, i dont think they gonna make hl3.

    1. exactly! They buy the mod/team, polish it, then release it as their own game, I don’t understand the praise Valve gets. What was their last in house game? Episode 2? that only took what, 5 years and was NOTHING like the mod they acquired.

      1. valve used to be amazing as a developer but they are not a developer anymore, they cant make large games with a small team, most of devs left valve and gone to other studios, so when people say “when hl3 is coming out” my question is WHO is gonna make it? valve? who exactly in valve? Also why would they do it? they making more money off steam and all the games they relesed the last 5 years were third party games.

They are simply not making games anymore just sell them. There is no devteam.

  8. It’s depressing to hear that the guy who created Counterstrike, a game Valve is still making millions with, is broke.

  9. Minh Le left Valve eight years ago. How all of a sudden he has the scoop on this eludes me. Either he’s referencing extremely old material, or he’s straight-up bullshitting.
