Grand Theft Auto V – First Update Released, Resolves Windows User Name Issue [UPDATE]

Rockstar has just released the first update for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V. While there are no release notes as of yet, we can confirm that this patch resolves two issues that plagued a lot of PC gamers.

These two issues are the infamous Windows User Name bug that prevented gamers from launching the game and the increased CPU usage from the game’s launcher.

This update will be auto-downloaded from Rockstar’s Social Club and Steam.

We’ll be sure to update this post with the release notes once we get them!

  • Fixed an issue where frame rate would drop when left-clicking the mouse while driving

        1. I use it on my desktop, but I look at this site far more times when I’m at work on my Galaxy Note 3, so they get enough ad revenue from me in the day.

  1. My nr 1 problem with the game is when im driving at high speed the texture are not loading properly and i can see thru the map until it loads(slowly) i don’t know if the problem is on my end or the game hope they will fix this with a patch or a mod

    1. I do not have this issue. Maybe try to de-frag the install file. I see small pop in here and there, but nothing like you describe. Win 8, HDD (non SSD, to big for mine)

      1. I saw the “problem of loading texture while driving fast” on TITAN X using the game on SDD !
its not really a “problem” thats how the engine its running.
They will improve the experience overtime ofc 🙂
Now a quick fix is too put GTX5.exe on high priority

    2. alt+tab then go the alt+ctrl+delete(task manager) click on GTA -> go to details -> and put GTA5.exe on high priority 🙂
Everybody has this problem and is more noticeable when you use FXAA in game!

      1. yeah that did not work for me I’ve try all the fix there is on this problem and nothing so far i know for some people this fix the problem for some it did not

  2. Hi, does someone knows how to get acces to the picture taked with the phone? i don’t know, something like a windows folder, like in GTA San Andreas.

    1. People should make a mod of this. Every picture you take with the phone, it’s saved on a personal folder.

    1. If it crashes in the car while aiming make sure you have not equiped any throwables. The best way to avoid it is to always select a pistol before entering a vehicle.

    2. There is a crash during the Blitz Play mission when the game automatically switches characters. Its a widespread problem and is NOT fixed by the latest patch. The only true 100% working “workaround” is to purposely fail the mission three times in order to skip it completely. Afterward you will get the same problem in another mission further into the game.

  3. Four of my mates on Steam bought GTA5 for PC and all of them are saying that they cant progress past one of the early heist missions because the game crashes when it automatically switches from one character to another.

I had a look around to see if i could find a work around or fix for one of my mates when I first heard of it and apparently this has been a problem for loads of people who bought the game at launch and still is not fixed after the latest patch.
