GTA5 Next-Gen PC feature

Grand Theft Auto 5 will support Ray Tracing Reflections, Shadows, RTGI & RTAO on PC

Rockstar has revealed that the Next-Gen Update for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5 will be released on March 4th. This patch will bring new Ray Tracing effects that will be exclusive to PC. Plus, it will add support for NVIDIA DLSS 3 and AMD FSR 3.0. So, let’s take a closer look at it.

As Rockstar noted, GTA5 on PC will support RTGI and RTAO, as well as ray-traced reflections and shadows (that were available on consoles). As such, the PC version will be the definitive version of the game. Right now, there is no word on whether these new RT effects will come out on PS5 or Xbox Series X.

Moreover, the team will add support for DirectStorage. Thus, PC gamers can expect faster loading times using an SSD. Plus, we’ll get enhanced audio with support for Dolby Atmos and improved fidelity of speech, cinematics, and music.

Rockstar has also shared the PC requirements for this Next-Gen Update of GTA5. According to them, PC gamers will at least need an Intel Core i7 4770 or an AMD FX 9590 with 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GTX 1630 or an AMD Radeon RX 6400. This PC setup will allow you to run the game without its RT effects.

The devs recommend using an Intel Core i5-9600K or an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 or an AMD Radeon RX 6600XT. You’ll also need 105GB of free disk space.

  1. wow this 2013 game with some ray tracing will look better than avowed stalker 2 ….so many old games are thirsty for some ray tracing .

  2. Nice, I'm glad they aren't charging for the upgrade.
Also good that they're keeping the original version around instead of just forcibly replacing that version in everyones library.

  3. Nice, im looking forward to it, i tried the dlss/framegen mod but it causes some minor texture issues so hopefully a proper release will be perfect, better audio is also a plus 😀

  4. GTA 6 is coming soon and they are giving us some console leftovers for GTA5 with not even a single word about GTA6 for PC.
    F^k Rockstar games honestly.

  5. So R* is finally active for GTA 6 now. Good! Given how it recommends *3060 for reflections here in GTA V, I'm sure PC requirements of GTA 6 will be far lower than all the UE5 slopfest these days

  6. If they only remastered GTA 4 for pc, it would sell millions. That thing has been unoptimized mess, community has been trying for years to fix that port (still ongoing btw)

    1. DXVK completely fixed the performance issues, and Fusion mod has fixed a lot of issues and also added countless QoL options directly to the main menu with support of drag and drop mods without going through OpenIV, the experience is more than enjoyable, if Rockstar pulls a RDR style re-release it won't be able to reach what mods have achieved with this game, and knowing them they will just butcher the f*ck out of it

    2. Honestly, if they cleaned up the performance, muddy graphics and floppy driving, and a few more QoL updates and fixes as in a decent remaster, I'd be interested in playing it again.

  7. It recommends a 3060, so I guess it's a very light implementation of the effects that's not gonna make it look too great.

If it really was, it would recommend at least a 3080, even for 1080p.

    1. Rockstar dosen't put high system requirements on their PC ports. Look at RDR 2. A GTX 1060 can't run that game at a steady 60fps high settings.

  8. years later…
like GTA6, they must be among the last developers that still treat pc gamers like an afterthought.

  9. Great game but I've had 1.41 installed forever, only 72gb vs the useless online 50gb or so. It looks fine as is imo no need for all this but I guess awareness marketing for 6 later this year.
