Final Fantasy XIV Online has now more than 16 million registered players

Square Enix announced today that Final Fantasy XIV Online has now surpassed 16 million registered users worldwide during a Letter from the Producer LIVE segment streamed from San Francisco. The new figure marks a high-point for the MMORPG ahead of the release of its third major expansion, FINAL FANTASY XIV: Shadowbringers on July 2nd, 2019.

Additionally, the FINAL FANTASY XIV: Shadowbringers official benchmark software is now available for download. The benchmark software includes all-new Shadowbringers footage, as well as a character creator that allows players to view playable characters as they appear in-game—including the new Hrothgar and Viera races. Users who create characters using the benchmark will also be able to carry them into the full game as well. The official benchmark software can be downloaded from here.

Enjoy!

  1. What does “registered players” even mean tho? If I never even bought the game, just registered an account to try the free trial, am I still counted cuz I’m technically registered? Because sure as heck it’s not 16 million subscribers, or they’d definitely use that word.

Stats like these are kinda meaningless, imagine how many registered players WoW would have, it’s probably in the hundreds of millions.

Yes. They say that because they are going to release the next expansion in less than 2 months to generate hype. actual active player numbers are way way lower than registered ones. maybe less than 10k people on PC and overall maybe less than 50k on all platforms.
