Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Gets PC screenshots & PC requirements

Square Enix has revealed the first PC screenshots and the official PC system requirements for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. FF7 Rebirth will be still using Unreal Engine 4, so let’s see what PC system you’ll need to run it.

PC gamers will at least need an AMD Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i3-8100 with 8GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon RX 6600 or Intel Arc A580 or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060. With this PC setup, you’ll be able to play at 1080p on Low with 30FPS.

For gaming at 1080p/Medium with 60FPS, you’ll need an AMD Ryzen 5 5600 or Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-8700 or Core i5-10400 with 16GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070.

Finally, for gaming at 4K/Ultra with 60FPS, you’ll need an AMD Ryzen 5 5700 or an Intel Core i7-10700 with 16GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon RX 7900XTX or an NVIDIA RTX 4080.

The devs claim that for 4K, you’ll at least need 16GB of VRAM. The game will also require 155GB of free disk space. To run it, you’ll also need a GPU that supports Shader Model 6.6 and DirectX 12 Ultimate.

Square Enix will release Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC on January 23rd. According to the team, the PC version will come with some PC enhancements over the console version.

SE has updated some of the 3D models and textures. To be more precise, the LoD for background models and MIP maps for background textures can both be freely configured in the options settings. With this background polygon density and texture density can be set higher than previously. Moreover, the devs have improved the lighting in some areas. Plus, there will be support for DLSS from the get-go.

Square Enix has not listed Denuvo on the game’s Steam store page. However, I’m certain the game will have it. So, expect SE to list it a few days before the game comes out.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. The specs listed are a bit confusing and conflicting at the same time. The 4K VRAM specs especially.

…16GB VRAM or above recommended to play on 4k resolution.

…12GB VRAM or above recommended to play on 4k resolution.

Also, under the "Recommended" settings, they mention Graphics Quality Preset as “Ultra”. To game on 2160 / 60FPS.

But under "Ultra", it says, Graphics Quality Preset “Medium”. But this is for 1080p / 60FPS.

Oh actually, they have mentioned 16GB system RAM as minimum here. Instead of 8GB.

  2. Game's just beautiful. I just can't get enough of billy's & teehee's stuff let alone playing the actual game Hah! Good lord japanese women creators

  3. insane requirements, not the full game, denuvo, please dont make controversial mods, 70 bucks, no thanks, ill wait for the third game to come out on pc and get cheap before i bother.

    1. The only thing that's mostly reasonable I see here are the requirements. I say mostly because non-RT cards (especially the high end GTX 10 series cards that are more powerful than the feeble RX 6600) SHOULD be able to play this unless they're forcing RT for some dumb reason, especially since it's an Unreal Engine 4 game, not Unreal Engine 5.

Anyway, the rest of the requirements make sense as this is a current gen open world game that has pretty good graphics. The PC version also has visual upgrades over the PS5 version that goes beyond simple resolution and anisotropic filtering increases.

I agree with everything else you said. I'll go the same route of waiting until the entire trilogy is finally done and wait for a cheap bundle.

        1. FROM has Easy Anti-Cheat, which is 100x worse… and has literally broken their multiplayer since launch. An entire super sized mod had to be created just to fix its connection issues created by Easy Anti-Cheat along with related performance problems it imposes. By contrast, Denuvo hasn't actually caused any significant issues in basically every game released, ever. There was some fake nonsense about performance impact spread for a few years but that was all debunked. The biggest issue we've seen is servers going down for a few hours or days once in a very rare blue moon.

          1. It's not because you can at least pirate the game that's officially already locked to 60 and unplayable in 2024. With Denuvo, you don't have options and have to have that garbage on your paid copy.

          2. That is false. Denuvo is non-issue for modders. It protects DRM, and it does not prevent modding. It is easier to use mods with Denuvo than Easy Anti-Cheat.

      1. well, the previous final fantasy 7 had no denuvo and that was weird, because the rest of the square enix games had it, but kingdom hearts which is older didnt have them but octapath traveler 2 had it and removed it after it sold. The new final fantasy has it, so i am gonna lean on more like yes than no.

    2. The requirements are not insane at all, especially for an enhanced higher quality texture, model, and lighting PC port as they've promised. It was already visually impressive if not for the resolution woes on PS5 as is and is easily among the best looking games available at the moment.

The game is absolutely the full game. Quit that bs. Makes you look stupid. This is a sequel, not a remake of the original game, and it is over 100 hours to 100%. Just the main story is around 35-55 hours while maintaining a very high quality experience. Wanting to buy three games that are around 300 or more hours in length for the price of one is truly asinine and unrealistic. Don't expect such a purchase for some time. The goal is to make a profit off this, not bankrupt Square Enix. Please, use at least 1% brain power here.

The game isn't announced with Denuvo, and even this article states that. Just more bs from you.

Final Fantasy is one of the most famous video game related p*rn genres. Them asking people to be respectful about that, even though they know it isn't likely to be done, has nothing wrong with such an action. Acting like it is criminal is insane enough you might actually need a shrink. There is petty, and then there is this irrational nonsense of yours.

The game has had a -30% discount since it was made available for sale on PC and will maintain that discount until the game's release in January. It is sure as hell not $70. You're just lying along with your other BS to b*tch.

      1. “Wanting to buy three games that are around 300 or more hours in length for the price of one is truly asinine and unrealistic. ”

yes but not for the way you think, this game should have never been split to 3 games or put so much filler content.

Other than that the rest of your post is corporate d*ck sucking ,get that square enix c*ck out of your mouth.

        1. So you’re ignorant AND you haven’t played the games to know you are wrong. Lovely. You’re hardly worth replying to in your stupidity but I’ll humor you.

For starters, an old school pure text dialog script with basic low poly 3D model gestures does not have the same duration of a fully voice acted, nuanced, high quality modern animated script. Just the voice acting means it will take longer to perform than speed reading extremely simple English text. Those scenes also require fleshed out dialog to fit proper speech/devlivery, nuanced presentation and delivery, and full acted out 3D movements/action aside from a shoulder shrug. This means scenes that might have taken 30 seconds to 2 minutes in the original game could easily take 2-8 minutes in a modern remake.

In addition, they took the opportunity to expand on underbaked elements of the story such as Tifa and Barrett, whom were criminally undercooked in the original game. In fact, Barrett is one of the most popular characters among fans in the remake because they did such an impressive job, while Tifa is also very popular and actual has a personality this time around unlike the original game. They expanded on the Turks, added more scenes, fleshed out Cloud’s interactions with Aerith and Tifa, added the popular Jessie and other side characters being expanded on (or completely new / other content), etc. For instance, we get to see a TON of nuance about Cloud’s interactions with Tifa and Aerith. Initially, he is resistant to Tifa and quite distant with her. Then we see Aerith interactions gradually pry Cloud open, and a lot more other nuance details during a much expanded park scene, the new area between Wall Street and her home, etc. Cloud begins to open up to Tifa and the others. We see interactions between Tifa and Aerith that basically did not exist at all in the original as they nearly never spoke. There are other events that occur, too. In Rebirth, in particular, they add a TON of extra character development scenes and major overhaul improving the story and it was extremely well praised for this. You act like its a ton of padding but that is BS lie. Shows how ignorant you are of the game’s contents and that you clearly are judging while having never played it.

The Remake series has been doing well and pretty well received showing you’re wrong, too. Guess how economics work. If you do not like a product and think it is unreasonable do NOT BUY IT. However, considering others disagree it seems your pennies will not make much of a difference. Please, take your ignorant bs elsewhere. What an embarassment.

          1. the part with the robotic hand is 30 seconds long in the original, in the remake its extended to 4 minutes. I dont need more slop extra content and shtty sidequests. They should have made the original game and the story not change the story and pad it out with extra crap and make it a slog and stretch it out to 3 freaking games.

“. There are other events that occur, too. In Rebirth, in particular, they add a TON of extra character development scenes and major overhaul improving the story and it was extremely well praised for this. You act like its a ton of padding but that is BS lie. ”

if you think that fcking hack who is responsible for the boring abomination that is final fantasy 13 which was spread to 3 games for some reason BUT TRUST ME BRO IT GETS GOOD AFTER 30 HOURS and final fantasy x2 and the latest games did a good job in with retelling the story, its you who is peddling bs lies.

“The Remake series has been doing well”

the sequel underperformed precisely because people were disappointed by the first game.

” Guess how economics work. If you do not like a product and think it is unreasonable do NOT BUY IT”

people didnt and didnt buy the latest final fantasy either, this is why square enix is done with inclusivity, its you who is ignorant and delusional.

          2. the part with the robotic hand is 30 seconds long in the original, in the remake its extended to 4 minutes. I dont need more slop extra content and shtty sidequests.

            Proving how wrong you are.

While the crane mini-game is not popular, because it is kind of low quality, the cutscenes for the mini-game are one of the most popularly cited examples for showing off the improved characters and interactions.

In that specific scene set in the junkyard with the crane mini-games we get to see Aerith and Cloud's personalities and how she gradually causes Cloud to open up to her with the whole high five thing, his initial reluctance, etc. which is a huge part not shown in the original game in detail and strongly contrasts his initial coldness to even Tifa in the prior chapters. It is actually a fundamentally important moment in the game for character development and expression.

Another example would be the chapter 3 with Tifa and you going around to collect payment for the filters. It shows Tifa's somewhat unreliable tendencies, how she is trying to fit into and find her place in life as well as stand on her own but struggling, Cloud's own coldness and awkward character normally when dealing with others but how when mercenary work comes up he is immediately a different vibe and confident because of his experiences missing out on life and military life, instead.

if you think that fcking hack who is responsible for the boring abomination that is final fantasy 13

I'm not even going to fully quote this totally unhinged random unrelated and bizarre rant. Just FYI, while I'm not the biggest fan of 13 that series sold 10m copies and definitely has fans of the story.

"The Remake series has been doing well"

the sequel underperformed precisely because people were disappointed by the first game.

Nah, you're just showing your subpar rationalization solving skills.

First, sequels tend to sell worse than prequels their story is dependent on.

Second, the game was a console exclusive and a PS5 next-gen only one, at that, during the early life of the PS5 which had a smaller customer base at the time. The fact that JRPGs is a statistically niche genre on top of this and it actually did well.

The exact sales are not known and were confirmed to have been okay, but not as great as they had hoped. They said the same about Remake launch, but Remake went on to reach over 7 million sales as of 2023 (now in 2025) making it one of the top selling JRPGs despite its weaker 3m units sold launch. In addition, Square Enix' extreme sale predictions were initially based on Final Fantasy XV's launch sales which were erroneous as it is not only the highest launch selling Final Fantasy and JRPG, ever, but one of the best launch sale titles in video game history. Square Enix is well known for making unrealistic expectations of launch sales.

This is also why they're no longer doing exclusives anymore to avoid these issues.

Being this ignorant while claiming others are peddling misinformation when it is, in reality, you is quite laughable.

" Guess how economics work. If you do not like a product and think it is unreasonable do NOT BUY IT"

people didnt and didnt buy the latest final fantasy either, this is why square enix is done with inclusivity, its you who is ignorant and delusional.

            Once again, wrong.

            Naoki from Square Enix state:

Yoshinori Kitase said 'Final Fantasy VII Rebirth' sales don't disappoint but they can't be exclusive to a single console anymore.

"I think we need to offer the game to as many players as possible."

It is releasing on PC in two weeks, too. As for Remake it sold well, 7m+ copies as of over a year ago as I mentioned.

Final Fantasy XVI had the same incorrect comparison to FFXVI. In its own merit, it had 3m sales at launch for a console only PS5 exclusive with a barely existent install base which is not bad if you look at other Final Fantasy launches. We don't know its sales since the last mention but it could very well have reached the results of other Final Fantasy titles by now.

Dude, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about so do everyone a favor and can it. I'm done speaking with someone who is vastly underqualified to have this discussion and spams nonsense contrary to actual facts and numbers. What a joke.

    Confusing.

Oh actually, they have mentioned 16GB system RAM as minimum here. Instead of 8GB.

    ..

    1. They already have comparison shots. The PS5 version is lacking things like shadows and the lighting is worse. And obviously resolution and texture quality is higher on PC as well as potential framerate as it's uncapped.

but you'd have to see them side by side to notice. It still looks great on PS5. Just better on (a capable) PC. As it should.

  5. Does it get proper turn-based combat and rewritten to respect 'that scene'? Cuz if not then this lifelong fan couldn't care less.

      1. You mean the first one that uses an ATB system like the original game, but with better balance and actual diverse gameplay / proper materia loadouts and a nice additional weapon/class loadout system?

Not sure how much you played the Remake, but while it may look like an action game on the surface it is fully an ATB game. ATB commands perform over 90% of your accomplishment in battle be it around 90% of damage output, all the healing, all item usage, most buffs/debuffs, skills, etc. Plus, it genuinely benefits from proper builds, strategy, resource management, and utilizing the various mechanics (esp in hard mode). In contrast, original game as much as I love it was Beta, Beta, Beta, Beta, Beta, Omnislash. The End. Or Attack > cure > attack > Is Limit Break Up? If Yes use it, if No > Attack > Cure.
